An idea to possibly improve the guild trader system

Hello, all! I am a long time forum reader, but have never posted. My wife and I run a moderate sized, but very enthusiastic guild, and we have done our best to maintain a regular guild trader, as we feel it adds value to our guild members. We have recently been outbid in the last couple weeks by a small guild, with barely anything on offer, but a remarkably high budget. I'm not here to complain about them outbidding us, as it is fair for anyone who pays the most to earn the spot. What it did though, was get me thinking of how the system is terribly limited, and through various means, guilds can effectively cut others from the trade system altogether.

With the number of guilds in existence, most will not have access to the traders, regardless of the quality of items they may have available in their internal guild store. My thought was that instead of the tiresome and cutthroat bidding system, it would be better to have every trader available to any guild that wishes to hire them each week. And by that, I mean not limiting any guild to purchasing only one trader - while also not limiting any one trader to just one guild. If each trader was given a flat hiring value, based on the quality of their location, guilds could pick and choose which ones they prefer in various locations. What the flat values would be, I would leave to others to decide, but I considered perhaps 10k would be fair for small, out of the way traders, all the way up to possibly millions for the big city ones.

Therefore, large guilds with insane trader budgets would feel encouraged to purchase several major city traders each week, while small ones could focus on getting their foot in the door with the cheapo traders. I would envision that when a customer visits a trader, the search results would list items as normal from all the guilds with ownership of the location, and whatever sales fees that are earned would go to the appropriate guild. Thanks for reading! Any feedback, positive or negative is appreciated!

I totally agree! Especially considering that larger trade guilds are known to make sub guilds and buy out several locations in one zone to lock down the competition. Having only the main guild with good listings and all the others have garbage so buyers are forced to buy from the main guild. Weird politics there
