Relieve Lag in Cities and Around Wayshrines - Make Dueling Criminal Flag

The lag caused by dueling in cities and around wayshrines has gotten so bad that its time to make a game change. It's limiting access to areas by causing lag out and crashes.

One solution would be to criminally flag/bounty the duelers if they do it inside a city or around a wayshrine. You want to duel in the city and around wayshrines, let the guards join in the fun. After all, they are bored just standing around.

People who want to duel have homes now they can do it in or go out in the wilderness.

People who don't want to lag should go into wilderness. Problem solved I can fight against friends in cities because it looks awesome and you can enjoy your lag free game.

I hardly see duelling in cities or around wayshrines anymore. But since you brought up this topic yet again, no. Deal with it.

People are going to keep dueling around wayshrines/cities simply because it's most convenient to do so. There's easy access to alchemy/enchanting station, easy res available at wayshrine, it's easy to find people etc etc. To say they need to go to the wilderness is like saying you need to go to the wilderness yourself - why don't you do your deconstructing etc in a tiny remote city that no one uses and where no one duels? Better yet, why don't you do it in your house where no one can bother you? Who's to say your need is greater than theirs?

Now the whole dueling thing could've been fixed really easily to please everyone - add/improve a designated place for dueling, give it wayshrine, crafting stations, banker etc, perhaps some quest/achievement encouraging you to duel there, and people would gladly go there. But since ZOS hasn't bothered with this I assume that's the view they have in their heads, for dueling to be out where everyone can see it(which I personally find somewhat fun and not actually all that laggy despite playing on an old potato laptop) and take part if they so wish. So stop with these threads already, it's not the duelers' fault and it's unlikely to change in the nearest future.

It can be a problem, and all the evidence from previous discussions is that grown-ups understand this and tend to find quieter places to duel without bothering anyone while the kids just want to show off in public - I suppose computer games are just a reflection of real life really. It's a shame that PvP was introduced into the PvE zones other than in separate arenas and private instances like player houses, both of which are there but without any incentive to use them.

Personally I'd disable dueling other than in those places (and PvP zones), but build dueling into more of an event-type activity with contests and leadership boards etc based in the arenas. I'm all for giving more content to PvPers, but there's no reason to dump it in the middle of the PvE.

I don't mind dueling at wayshrines, because there are no quests there. The only place I mind dueling is in spots where there is a quest. Basically, if it's a quest location, then don't duel there.
I don't think lag from dueling is any worse than lag from any other activitity from players.

Are you saying that the cities were build just so you can duel there to your hearts content? That the banks, crafting stations and other services included in the cities were put there with a single sole purpose. Dueling.
So everyone should do their crafting, banking and trading in the wilderness because you want to duel in the cities?
Just listen to your own nonsense for once.

I'm saying that without a convenient designated dueling place introduced, it was really obvious that people would be dueling in major hubs such as Rawl, Mournhold etc. So evidently while it's not the sole purpose of the cities, it's intended for people to duel there just as much as it's intended for people to deconstruct etc there.

Whether or not the system is perfect is another story, I personally don't like dueling in cities that much, but to blame players for Zenimax's choice/oversight is silly.

State of the art Xbox One and 10 MB dual line DSL. That's about as top of the line hardware and network as they come. ESO just didn't design a client, made a bad decision on putting dueling in, and now people are having trouble getting through high traffic areas because players like you like being rude. Better for everyone if you suck it up and take it out of the cities and away from the wayshrines.

I'm all for it.....so tired of the lag and crashing which had quadrupled since double xp and the horrendous free to play week. Nothing but nooblets trolling and dueling at every high traffic place, constant duel invite spamming before you can load in. You old timers know better and should not encourage it. We all know how horrible the servers are. I can hardly wait for morrowind's lag fest. This last month in eso has really made me tired, grouchy and anti social for sure.....:(

You pretty much just justified why dueling needs to be moved away from wayshrines and out of the cities by demonstrating the attitude the duelers have about impacting other people's game experience and not in a very intelligent way at that. Kind of like demanding to have a block party right in the middle of a major interstate highway.
