I really think that after 3 years that ZOS would have addressed the issue of the need to either log out and back in or switch areas just to get your mail. I know it does not happen all the time but come on, should it really happen at all? I buy something from a player vendor and I should get within moments as I have paid for the item. This is just getting old.

They have no plans to fix that it's not something that most players notice so it's not something they care enough to fix.

Sad truth is they only fix really bad or easy to fix bugs.

Can I chime in on this? I hate that I have to log out (or quit as it's faster) to get my mail - this isn't rocket science!

why not a simple "get mail" button [with say...a 60 second cooldown on it] that pings the mail system to check for new messages?

I just port to a new zone and presto though sometimes I do get it without zoning.

A thread from early 2017 annotates a "bug" (not sure if that is the right word) which is still present today. You either have to /reloadUI or go to the Outlaws Refuge to trigger the mail system to update.

I have heard that when you apply a COD fee on mail (even 1 gold) it bumps the priority of the mail which is why sometimes the COD mail will arrive almost instantaneously after being sent. The mail that is sent after purchasing a Guild Trader item should have the same priority.

I would also love to be able to save emails (no auto-delete).
We could still have the 30 message limit to avoid bloated mailboxes, but it would be nice if I could keep a particular message for as long as I wanted.

You don't have to log-out. Just change zones or enter a house; anything that elicits a loading screen.
Loading screens in this game are straight-up ridiculous, but logging-out and then back in takes more time than staying in the game and just changing zones.

They really should fix it. One of my guilds had an extremely upset new player recently who thought they'd been scammed because they bought something on the guild store, the gold vanished and the item never appeared. We eventually persuaded them to waypoint to another location and the mail showed up, but it definitely wasn't a positive first experience.

And someone else admitted during the discussion that they didn't use the guild store for months after their first attempt for the same reason - they thought they'd done something wrong and lost the gold, it was obviously a more complicated system than they thought and they'd figure it out later. I've seen the same in towns too - people asking where items go when you buy them or how they can collect them.

Once you know it's a minor annoyance having to go to a different map just to collect something being mailed to you, but before then it makes the whole process of buying from guild traders more complicated than it needs to be.

You know what is old having to delete all emails ever few days as the inbox is full on console I have to go in to freaking button smashin mode to get the inbox delete. Where is the delete all emails option............

Addons on PC give you the reply feature and the ability to press one button to take all attachments and delete emails. Console users be damned. 🤷‍♂️

On a related note, how in the world do trade guilds function on console without an add on to track deposits and donations etc.

This and there are so many items much more significant that need to be addressed. The delay on mail is not a big issue.

User transit to another zone and you have your mail without the need to log.

I believe that is correct, the system only refreshes about every 12 to 15 minutes. Unless you force a refresh by changing zones or relogging.

Perhaps if a refresh button was added to mail UI. The player could trigger a refresh and the system would not be taxed with unnecessary auto refresh on all users. With this they may be able to spread the auto refresh out further to lower the server load, as a player could toggle their own refresh if needed.
