Unable to start game after installing Creator's Update

I have Windows 10 Pro and recently installed the Creator's Update. Everything seemed to go well with the update, but now when I try to start ESO, it appears to launch, but then it immediately crashes with the error "We're sorry. The Elder Scrolls Online has quit unexpectedly." I made sure my Geforce driver was updated (version 381.65) and I tried running the Launcher in compatibility mode (Windows 8 and Windows 7), but nothing helped. There have been no networking changes or firewall changes since I was able to play it last - the only thing that changed was the Creator's Update itself. Any ideas on how to get around this?

I installed overnight the Creator's update and now I get the flickering grass problem which was an issue of the latest AMD gpu drivers. I had updated twice the gpu drivers and restored to the previous version. Now for some reason Microsoft's Creator's update causes the same problem!

I'm in a similar boat, with Creator Edition I freaking had to rebuild from reset system to get my computer working. But i found a way around this error of needing to repair the Launcher.

So I went to the actual Executable - under <main install drive and directory>The Elder Scrolls Online\game\client\eso64.exe and am currently running the game that way. Rather than with the launcher until I can figure out a proper solution with my Launcher. But I'm waiting till the 19th to see if a patch comes and actually updates to fix the launcher. (by accident)

I'd recommend till this issue is hammered out whether its a driver/Windoze10 Creator issue/or something else, to just for the present, use the ESO.exe or ESO64.exe actual client.

    Hope this helps some...

I had a similar problem today. After the Creator's Update installed itself, I couldn't even get past a loading screen in Skyrim Special Edition without a total freeze. Trying to play ESO resulted in pretty much the same thing.

I fixed this by backing up my stuff and going back to an earlier version of Windows 10.

Going back to an earlier Windows 10:
    1. Right-click your taskbar and go to Settings.
    2. Click the Home button.
    3. Click Update and Security.
    4. Choose Recovery on the left.
There will be an option called "Go back to an earlier build" in the right side of the window. After several messages explaining what to expect, you can decide whether or not to proceed. If you do, your computer will reboot itself and remove the update. This process will take several minutes, so I suggest grabbing a snack or doing a bit of light reading.

Once it's all done, you'll be presented with your login screen and Windows should behave as it did before the update hit. For me, that meant ESO and Skyrim Special Edition were playable again.

Here's a link I found where people are brainstorming fixing issue getting GTA5 to run after installing Creator Updae, some things to try there (but swap GTA5 with ESO if anything leads to that).

    LINK

Here's another link about other games being broken by Creator Update (with other ideas on how to fix, including resetting screen refresh rate).

I had this problem, this is how I fixed it for me after much trouble.

    1 - Brows to the game DIR = C:\Program Files (x86)\Zenimax Online\The Elder Scrolls Online\game\client (by default)

2 - Right Click the fIle eso64 and click trouble shoot compatibility

3 - Click Trouble Shoot Problem

4 - The option "The Program requires additional permissions" should be ticked already. If so click next.

    5 - Click test program.

6 - If it launches fine save and enjoy.

Hope this helps in some way.

There is noting wrong with the new Windows 10 update. The problem is at ESO with their logon server. The PTS server seems to stay online better then the regular server. But it went down this morning too

I let my computer update and went to open the launcher and when I click the play button nothing happens. I tried uninstalling the update and that didn't change anything, and then I redownloaded the game and that didn't fix it either. Any solutions?
