I'm curious about the exit on the upper floor of this house. Will we get a balcony or more space later on? If you exit there right now you'll end up outside balancing on a 2cm wide plank over the streets of Windhelm.

Not to be snarky, but did you read the description of that particular house?

It's the 2nd floor escape route in case of fire.

Every time I preview it, that door always takes me back out to the street on ground level, I wish there was a 2cm wide plank just so I could see what it looks like. Has anyone actually tried to place a wider plank down to make a real balcony?

That's not possible - the balcony is outside of the instance so you can't decorate there. The redguard medium house has the same problem with the roof terrace.
