Character Aesthetics

What kind of Aesthetic customizations do you wish we had in ESO?

it'd be nice to be able to make an outfit out of unlocked / known styles. perhaps a key on the crown store that allowed us to create the outfits manually like the way they do in Rift. each key would allow like... one outfit set to be unlocked, and finalizing the outfit would consume the key and give you a permanent custom outfit.

also a hide left shoulder or right shoulder option, and having two shoulder pieces when wearing monster sets would be great too. i really dislike the single shoulder pieces on the monster armor.

what kind of customizable options do you guys wish there were?

Better looking cleavage, that's one of the things stopping me from wearing costumes.

Putting it in the Crown Store is absurd. This should be in the actual game.

I want war paint, bodypaint, tatoos and khajiit fur stripes/spots in different colors.

Having some tail options for khajiit and argonians would be nice too.

    • add/remove dirt to face and torso. Tamriel seems unnaturally... clean. I crave a 'weathered' appearance!
    • more subtle face and body markings (i.e. things that look less like bad tattoos)
    • retain the appearance of lower level weapons and armour at higher levels
    • matte colour options alongside the super-shiny stuff (see point 1)

Body sliders which work on all parts of the body independently.

The ability to mix up patterns and designs on all parts of the body independently.

New female voices which don't sound like the VA had her throat scorched to record the sounds we have now.

Hair styles which actually represent more of the race and not this all-in-one blob look we get with all races. Some of those "hair" (hair?) styles for Khajiit are just... wrong. Yuck!

    Independent eye coloring.

Adornments which don't look like gum wrappers stuck to the head. OMG, those are hideous! They don't even blend well with the native skin colors.

Oh, and speaking of skin colors: also applied independently to all body parts.

Keep my nose ring visible when wearing a Khajiit helmet/hat.

    A middle finger flipping emote.

    A violin playing emote.

    WHISKERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Nail coloring.

    Lip coloring.

    Nose coloring.

Another half meter added to the left side of the character height meter so I can make my character shorter.

    Did I mention whiskers?

More variations of scars, especially on the face which actually blend with the face so my character doesn't look like some 5 year old drew a red line on black fur. Ugh. It's so ugly!

And finally, while not directly tied to the character itself, armor representative of a race's feet. I dislike the look of Khajiit shoes which look like socks with the tips cut off.

Agree about style parlor. I hated dye stamps in SWTOR and hate them equally here. Why the dual system other than greed. If I wanted to change colors on outfits and hats it would be to colors I want. Dye stamps won't ever work. To get costume customization on par with armor you are required to subscribe but that isn't enough incentive.

I miss the ESO devs just adding features because their players wanted it like they did around launch. Now I feel they are so money hungry I can't bring myself to subscribe and only log in very occasionally. I don't think we will see any aesthetic options from now on without a price tag attached.

Khajiit do, indeed, have whiskers. Whatever adornment I chose for my original main character actually puts shiny gold-ish tips on her whiskers. At least they did when I originally created her. I will admit, she has not looked closely in the mirror recently to check on their status.

Would be nice if armor would show its condition. I keep coming out of epic (sorta) battles with my armor all shiny and new looking. Looking at the price it costs to repair it should be in tatters, dented, stained, and otherwise in disrepair.

Short of that just let me decide when making my weapons/armor if I want it to look new or well used.

And I still want guild heraldry for my mounts.
and then the parrot said, "must be the water mines green too."

Yes we should be able to craft outfits and unlock more outfits in quest, dungeons, World Bosses, treasure hunting and in-game dailies.

I totally agree on that. I ended up deleting two characters I had held for banking and crafting in hopes I could tweak their appearance. They were both made at the beginning when I was on an underpowered Mac. The Altmer ended up looking like Mae West once she was in actual real game clothes and the poor wood elf looked like a middle-aged woman because I couldn't see the wrinkles on my screen. As far as I'm concerned every character should come with one free do over on appearance if the creation screen can't be adjusted to have lighting that reflects the real game world and to allow for buyer's remorse on markings and adornments particularly.

Create an ingame physical barber shop where our characters can go to get a new look in exchange of ingame gold. It will create immersion as well as make the RP population happy.

End game weapons look like cheap plastic costume props thanks to goofy primary colours that can't be changed.

    Let us choose weapon colours!

This is what the player base asked for. We got style parlor instead so they can load it with micro transactions.

I don't find that Tamriel is too clean; in fact I find everyone to be a bit grubby. But, I don't object to the ability to add dirt or a weathered appearance, which I must add, is not dirty just a bit over-tanned and dry and wrinkly. An old cowboy can be scrubbed until he shines and still look like he stayed out in the sun too long.

I wish we had far more options in eye colour, hair colour (and yes I'm on board with black for everyone and a proper white for everyone), markings and adornments. I really would like some make up beyond what is available. There should be multiple options for make-up, scars, tattoos, and war paint.
