Magblade gear sets?

I'm probably gonna end up race changing my stam blade and transitioning him to Magicka, I don't want a ganking build (I may do it in the future) but currently what are some of the best sets or the sets that most mag blades use? I'd assume Necropotence, I've seen some use skoria. But besides that what is a "BiS" for lack of a better term. Almost all magblade builds on YouTube are ganking builds.

Gilliamtherogue has an in-depth build video that isn't about ganking, though it's mostly focused on PVE. There was a good long discussion at the beginning of this patch about PVP light armor magblade builds. Some good theorycrafting there. Heavy armor destro/resto magblade is still quite powerful as well; the standard setup is Clever Alchemist + Spinner's + various monster sets. Kena's build video is still a great build.

How would you think something like 5 Necro, 5 amberplasm and 1 kena work?

Necro is great for magblades, and Amber Plasm is a really strong set. I think that magblades have the least need for Amber Plasm (thanks to Siphoning Attacks), but it's definitely not bad. But why not run 2 Kena (or 2 something else)? You can have

    - 2 monster head and shoulders
    - 3 jewelry and 1 body piece Necro
    - 4 body Amber (etc.)
    - 1 Amber (etc.) staff
    - 1 Necro staff

This would allow you to run 5-5-2, with one set complete on each bar.

Siphoning Attacks doesnt grant that great sustain in PvP, because a lot of attacks are dodged by our enemies. I think Magblade won't suffer from sustain set in pvp.

I'm personally not too worried about it, I might just farm lich again. Currently running 5 spinners front bar and 5 lich back bar on my magsorc, Thinking I might try 5 necropotence all Impen, 5 lich back bar with resto, and maybe like 2 skoria cause I'll probably be using flame reach and cripple

It depends on the bonus. Necro's bonus wouldn't be active on both bars, but spell/weapon damage increase sets like BSW, Clever Alchemist, etc. maintain their buff when you proc it on one bar and swap to another. That's the way I prefer to build and I've gotten used to it. But you don't have to build that way if something else works better for you.

Edit: in other cases, missing the 5 piece bonus on one bar doesn't matter much. I don't need the penetration from Spinner's to be active on my buff/shield/healing bar, for instance.

Cause bar wise I'm thinking something like

Destro Bar ( Swallow Soul, Impale, inner light, resolve, flame reach, soul tether)

Resto bar (inner light, shade, siphoning, grasp and probably harness magicka, ice comet) or trade siphoning out for healing ward and run harness. Or again maybe even swap shade out for degeneration if I don't use necro. But I want to implement skoria

This is simply not true. Siphoning attacks gives amazing two-resource sustain in PvP. Not a very large percentage of my destro weaves are dodged and lot of weaves are done on resto bar which are dodged even less. I'm in light armor with 10k stamina and ~600 stam recovery and I don't use pots that restore stamina. Yet siphoning attacks gives me unlimited stamina to break free, block heavy hitting attacks, and even do some dodge-rolling. And it sustains my magicka just as well too - I don't have any magicka recovery enchants or magicka recovery bonuses, and I don't run atro mundus. Witchmothers + siphoning attacks is plenty of sustain alone and then I just stack damage (or defense with pirate skelly). If you don't think siphoning attacks gives great sustain in PvP you are not weaving correctly.

I think you'd be better off going necro/willpower/monster set/maelstrom weapons if you have them, otherwise any sharpened staff. I'm no pro magblade or anything, but willpower is still a very strong 3 piece in PvP and combined with necro you'd have very high max mag. If you don't have vMA weapons it would really be a big deal either since you'd just run poisons on them.
