ZOS: Master Writs: Please remove PROMPT to OPEN them

The title might need rephrasing...

Master Writs... As we all know, Sealed Master Writs are rare. As well as being rare, the purchases that can be made from vouchers are expensive, meaning you have to collect quite a few sealed writs to buy something worthwhile. For that reason, many of us crafters obviously use crafting on multiple characters to gain a better chance at recieiving a Sealed Master Writ, but actually only open and perfom the writ on one character in order to gather all vouchers together for a purchase.

Here's the problem as I see it: IF you are lucky enough to get a Sealed Master Writ (because the RNG is low), currently the sealed writ will attempt to make you open it immediately. As soon as you open the reward for crafting gear, if there is a sealed master writ within the reward, it immediately opens and asks you if you wish to do it. This seems totally unnecessary. If you really wish to do the writ, you would just open it and complete it, we do not need to be prompted to open it. Having this prompt can cause a problem, which will lead to a wasted sealed writ.

If you are have limited time online and are therefore rushing through all your characters crafting and not being careful, just click, click, clicking open on each reward to speed up the process, when this silly prompt comes up you can accidently accept it. If this happens and it is accepted on a character you do not use for completed Sealed Master Writs, the ultra rare sealed writ has just been wasted. Given the rarity of these writs, this is a real headache.

ZOS could you please consider removing the auto prompt to open the sealed writs. In all fairness it seems unnecessary. I can't remember ever being auto prompted to open a gold sealed item before, such as a rare gold sealed drop, so I do not think we need the auto prompt here.

I'm sure some in the community will no doubt troll 'well you should be more careful'. I accept that. It is always a good thing to be more careful, however, my point is that I think the prompt is unnecessary, and it would only benefit players by removing it so no mistakes can be made. (EDIT: So they would just go into inventory WITHOUT a prompt to open them). It would certainly make crafters lives happier.

Thanks :)

This never should have been added in the first place. I agree 100% it should be removed and the person that made the decision to put it in the game originally should feel bad.

Although i have never made the mistake i can see it happening quite often and that one day maybe it will be my turn to fall foul of it, so yes i have to agree with OP it is in need of change.

Happened to me this week. First master writ (legendary nirnhoned) accepted unknowingly; and I couldn't work out how to determine the voucher reward after I accepted it... abandoned.

It's one of the stupidest "features" I've ever seen.

Even if you plan to do that writ on that character, you may well not want to accept the quest immediately, given how few slots there are in the active quest log.

Sadly, there is an add-on for PC/Mac that is apparently supposed to hide that (No Thank You) but it does not work for me. I have not accidentally accepted one, yet, but it is annoying that it asks.

Yeah, when I first saw one, I was afraid that if I didn't accept it, then I would lose it. Horrible design. Still need to empty my quest log of a few I haven't got around to yet (and the limited quest log is another issue).

Agree. Had to purchase the Dark Brotherhood DLC to to complete a writ because of this "feature" ... which is perhaps why it's included.

So do you want them to auto accept them or just go into your inventory where you can open them yourself?

Go to inventory to be accepted later.

Given the problem that was described... I think it evident that I am saying they should just go into inventory... However I've made that clearer in the description. thanks

I did it on my first one, and have so far avoided doing it since then, but yes, I agree that this is a poorly designed 'feature'. I would imagine the original thought was "We have this cool new thing people are going to want, so let's make sure they know it's there" or something similar, but geez, it is annoying to have it interrupt when I am trying to turn in my crafting writs

Well it's not evident since you didn't specify and if they removed the prompt the way things currently are they'd just go straight to your quest journal. I mean it seems obvious to me too, but without specifying some people would just accept the mission blindly not know if they have the required motif/traits/DLC etc. That's why the prompt is there currently. They need to recode the reward portion to be an item not a quest.

But yes, we shouldn't need an addon. Let master writs be sealed!

Hi Kodrac :) No, I'm quite clearly stating and specyifing that the problem is you can mistakingly click on the prompt and then mistakingly accept the writ on a character you do not do writs on, thus wasting the writ. So I'm specyifying within my suggestion that they should remove the prompt. However, i had already edited it to make that even more clearer for anyone that wasn't able to understand.

It has to be a quest so that you can complete it like normal writs, there's no problem with that as far as I can see. I'm just suggesting they remove the prompt to accept it as that seems unessesary and can lead to mistakingly accepting it. So just keep it as a sealable writ that can be passed to other characters or as some people are doing, selling them.

The latter, of course. The former would be totally absurd.

I lost several ones of them because once accepted if you abandon the quest they disappear into oblivion.

The only other reason I can think of the prompt being there is to let you know you have one. I don't know how many times I've had a survey in my inventory and didn't realize it until I went to that zone and saw an X on the map (thanks to my addon).

Agreed. Totally unnecessary feature. You're either gonna view the thing first to ensure you can complete it, or sell the sucker. Either way, instant accept is not needed.
