Why isn't there a minimap option?

I've just rejoined ESO after about a year, why is there still not the option to have a minimap??? For an MMORPG, it seems like a step back not to have one, because its easier to see friends, NPC traders and services and a multitude of other stuff with a minimap. Sure, lots of people may not like to have one, but I think it would be great to have that option... especially as the minimap mod by Fyrakin no longer works correctly in some zones!

I agree with the less invasive more like Skyrim thing, but for an MMO it makes it less functional... I remember having to hunt around for the vendors and services and stuff and having to memorise where they all are... with a minimap you don't have to do that. Press M, find what you want, press F over it, close map and follow the blue icon.
This is what I do and it's become so fast and second nature to me now. Generally I find I learn locations any way, when I went back to SWTOR I wasn't really using the mini-map more than a compass of follow the yellow triangle at the edge to see which way, the compass in this game is the same feature.@Turelus - EU PC Megaserver
