It's not bad. I got it from doing Vlastrus quests in Cyrodiil.

I had it on a bow build that used poision arrow to apply some pressure on opponents. I paired it with Sheer Venom for this setup:
    5 pc Sheer Venom
    5 pc Affliction
    1 pc Velidreth

It's certainly not great if your goal is damage, especially when you compare it to a set like Red Mountain. Despite Red Mountain having a 40% less proc chance, it does 2.5 times the damage and can proc twice as much because it has a 2 second cooldown (compared to 4 seconds for Affliction). Plus Red Mountain is a medium set, while Affliction is a heavy set, so you can get Robust on the jewelry.

If you plan on using weapon skills a lot, especially the bow DOT skills, then I'd say Red Mountain is a much better option. If you don't rely on weapons then Affliction is a decent, but not great alternative because it procs off any damage.

If you're just playing for fun, then in my experience Affliction was fun to use on my poison/disease themed build.

Thinking of it for pvp on a heavy stamina warden tank build, paired with tremorscale and a 1h/shield + frost staff setup.

Before coming across this set,the idea was that at range I could use a frost heavy + cliff racer in pvp, they'd hit at roughly the same time and the taunt from frost heavy would proc tremorscale for additional burst and the snare. If I add affliction to the mix, that's even more burst on a relatively reliable proc chance, and both tremorscale and affliction have a 4 second cooldown and 50% proc chance.
In melee range I just swap to the shield bar and use pierce for the same effect.

Sounds like a solid gameplan. Timing is especially important in PVP and having that internal clock work at the same time for both Affliction and Tremorscale is a smart approach.

Its ***, it use to be good back in the day before all the nerfs to procs.

Back when it had just a flat 50% proc rate it was pretty good (No cooldown), but the crit nerf to procs killed it.

In PvP it hits for like 800 damage because its nerfed 50% by battle spirit then reduced by Resists as well.

Good game plan. I was thinking a similar set up, but I was planning on using the Ice Furnace set (but kinda hoping they fix it as well). Otherwise I might consider Ysgramor for xtra ice damage (or will use a set that comes in that next patch). I would pair it with one of those 3 piece jewelry sets and probably a master ice staff (which I need to farm for)

Procs are still fairly powerful, having been killed by people running the viper/velidreth, viper+tremorscale, viper+widowmaker combos (I have multiple characters that are built differently...)

Oh trust me, I've tried it with those sets... it's just not good... the damage is less then half of viper right off the bat and it just doesn't do enough with the cool down now. When it didn't have a cooldown it was great for Templar or dw users but now it's just completely worthless

Winterborn, no cooldown 8% chance on frost to immobilize and deal skoria type damage. I think it'll pair very well with warden

Were you recently in Eastmarch saying to someone if they can stop taunting? Not sure if that was you or someone with a very similar name

8% isn't very reliable when you're going for burst damage in pvp.

Not sure how I didn't see this earlier. Was trying Affliction on my Hybrid DK. I didn't realize that it is one of the few proc sets affected by Battle spirit...
