Best way to earn AP?

I see a lot of older guides saying defending earns the best AP but It doesn't really seem worth it most of the time. I feel like hitting a bunch of resources is the fastest way to get AP.

✭The most AP for the least effort comes from running to places that are about to be captured for the O tick at this point.
