Is there a problem with this??

My alliance is going to be Daggerfall covenant. However at level one I will go to the Aldmeri dominion and start my questing at Khenarthi's Roost.

The only problem I can see is that my harborage will be in Glenumbra.

Is there anything else?

Just deciding which alliance I am joining.

I'm pretty sure your Mages' and Fighters' guilds quests will still require you to go to the cities of your own alliance. You'll also have to go to the Undaunted hub in there for the first time(after that you can pick the quests wherever). And if you do writs on non max level, the drop off stations will be in your alliance too(max level writs drop off place is Craglorn). And like you said, main quest will be in DC and will be sending you places in DC(there's a delve you gotta go to at some point, also a city or two I think).

No, there will be no problems beside guild/crafting quest locations. Go for it.

@Magdalina is correct regarding fighters/mages. Additionally, Eveya will have only your alliance locations available for teleport afterwards but that's pretty minor. Fighters and mages have less than ten quests a piece as I recall and the harborsge has maybe six. Not a big deal to occasionally travel into DC territory
I don't always drink Skooma, but when I do I go to the Southwall Corner Club. May you walk on warm sands my friends.

This will break Cadwell's Silver and Gold. If you don't care about those at all, then no worries. But, if you want the rewards from them, you'll need to wait for Cadwell's Almanac to get fixed. You can still do the quests without any issues. But, you won't get the soul shriven motif nor his hat.

Is this true? That's pretty terrible.
Does it only apply if you finish the entire alliance questline before unlocking Cadwells quests?

Incorrect. I've done it this way and had no issue. What happens is if you have completed the necessary quests for Silver and Gold completion, taking the quests will tell to go to the relevant faction but then tell you to go back to Cadwell to complete the quest.

Not even this. I'm playing an alt, orc of The Daggerfall Covenant, but I park and start my day at Mournhold of The Ebonheart Pact, where I get all the guild and crafting quests. 'Cause EP rocks. Oh and I also return my guild quests there, no problems.

It's possible this has been fixed, or the player with an issue was an isolated incident. The problem was that completed quests wouldn't count towards Cadwell's Almanac. So completing any of them would lock up the quest. Though, if this has been fixed, cool.

That's actually, not an issue, or at least not much of one. Guild dailies will point you towards your home alliance, but you can turn them in at another alliance's location. However, that also means you need to know where you would pick it up and turn it in. For writs, that could be fairly confusing. Honestly, I pick up most guild dailies in Mournhold, simply because Elden Root is a nightmare to navigate for the quests.

Also, the housing quest will give you a free room in your home alliance, if you attempt to pick it up in another alliance, you'll be directed back. So you could pick up A Friend in Need in Vulkel Guard, but it would still send you to Daggerfall, and give you a room there. If you want a Dominion home, you'll need to either cough up the gold, or roll up a Dominion character long enough to complete that quest.

There's also a few minor issues. Quen will send you to a Daggerfall port, when you accept her quest, for instance.

Gild dailies yes, but guild quests - the fighters'/mages' guild main questline - will be in your home alliance still. And while you can pick crafting writs up anywhere the drop off post for non-max tier writ is in your home alliance. All of this is just a minor inconvenice while leveling though, he'll basically have to ask someone to take him to the wayshrines he'd need for those(or do the long slow horse ride there himself).

o: I didn't know about cadwell's silver/gold...I hope they fixed it, sounds pretty broken.

That part isn't an issue anymore, oddly. There's now a navigator system that will let you port between maps directly. There's at least one in every zone, and they'll allow you to port to four different zones: The previous one, the next one, and the equivalent one for the other two alliances. For instance: the one in Wayrest will let you port to Glenumbra, Stormhaven, Deshaan, and Grahtwood. This also wraps around, so, Glenumbra and Bangkorai are connected.
