ESO and Capitalism

How did eso get such huge income disparity in the player base so quickly? Capitalism!

See early on when guilds were getting the first vendors everything was somewhat equal.

Then much like the industrial revolution, the guilds that got vendors in high traffic areas exploded and those in out of the way areas failed and fortunes were made.

New guilds have no chance of displacing the behemoths because they can't compete enough to ever outbid. Only larger guilds can outmuscle smaller ones.

So the rich are multi millionaires and everyone else is stuck vendoring at a massive loss, giving money to the already rich or selling by yelling in town.

Essentially they designed the game as badly as actual economics so that even here 99% of the pop gets screwed.

There are people that do nothing in the game but buy/sell/trade. With how much there is to do in the game + the fact that not many people do the aforementioned thing, it makes sense that there are crazy-rich people.

Well, then use the system as it is supposed to be used. If you have a small guild vendor tucked away some where. Why not lower your prices and advertise. Bring people out to your little corner of the world. It's called free market. Stop feeling sorry for yourself and do something about it.

    Please stop with this.

Once again as I said the last time this all came up.

A guild was formed, I joined it with 27 members at that time, by the weekend they had a merchant, they have since worked to keep a merchant most weeks and make good sales.

If you want to have a successful guild you need to push for it. Ask members for help getting you there (donation requests not requirements) know the good locations which are not hubs.
Help you members know what to sell and how much (no one wants their trash level 37 prosperous silks of sun set item).

How is everyone stuck vendoring at a massive loss? if you are talking they sell for less, well, that's capitalism to attract buyers to their store.

It is completely possible for new trading guilds to become top trading guilds. I know my guild recently (2 months ago) went from being a wayrest trader to a mournhold trader (big step up). We saved our money and had a steady flow of users selling items.

Often times what it takes is for the guild to save up money for a large spot, then outbid a regular for a week, sell as many items as they can that week, make bank, possibly lose the trader spot, and repeat the process until they make enough bank to keep the place regularly.

Most trading guilds either aren't aggressive at all and are happy in their situation or they make efforts to get a better trader. And no, bad traders doesn't mean no money, it just means less traffic. People still sell plenty in out of the way traders. Especially if people see a good deal.

The nasty tone isn't really necessary OP, I'm with you on this. Honestly the whole dues thing, in my opinion, is a separate issue given that the biggest guilds who collect them already make enough through sales taxes to not have to and really shouldn't.

There is nothing stopping you, other than yourself, from acquiring relevant loot, joining trade guilds, combo trade/causal guilds or even casual guilds and selling the relevant loot for profit. This will take time, energy, thought and you will need to learn a skill or two. I recommend the Tamriel Trade Centre addon, or if on console, the web site.

Since this does not involve instant gratification, or if you have a sense of entitlement, I suspect you would not follow this simple, proven set of actions.

Either way, try to have fun and enjoy the game, after all, it is just a game, not real life.

Odd. I make most of my gold outside the use of a vendor. I bring in a couple to a few hundred thou a week outside of what I sell via trade guilds. I am only in one trading guild that would probably be characterized as second teir, that often has a few spaces available and have no issues selling the few things I get worthy to sell.

Further, serious raiders used to make bank of off the BoE gear that dropped in trials. Some of those items sold for a few hundred though per though the price normalized a bit with time That alone is something that non-raiders did not have access to.

I think the OP has made assumptions that are not entirely correct.

Funny how people complain about the system instead of learning to work with it. It's not going to change, so you either accept that you're going to be miserable by not working with the system, or you accept how it is and learn to work with what we got.

I belong to four Trade Guilds... whenever I'm in need of cash, I simply spend a couple of hours farming and by morning I have almost 100K in gold from the sales. Not all of these guilds are full, so people need to simply shout in Zone Chat that they're looking for a Trade Guild, and more than likely you'll get an invite or Whisper explaining guild rules, etc. Sometimes you may have to shout over a period of time (shout occasionally, not spamming) because the officers are not always online or reading chat.
