You, ZOS, seem to constantly try and find ways to offer value for eso Plus or maybe I should use the word incentive. There's also the non subscriber who would rather buy vs rent.
I think your opportunity is simple but your prior and current strategy isn't what best.
My suggestion is this:
-For subscribers.....use a rent model that offers DLC, crown store cosmetics and keep the benefits but communicate that benefits are aligned with specific DLCs
-For buyers....offer DLC, Chapters, crown store cosmetics and the eso plus benefits (only crafting bag, costume dye, research, and the upcoming bank space aligned under dlc purchases.
Why:
-ESO Plus continues to need change and subscribers should see obvious value if that's their chosen model however, they shouldn't be charged extra on top of their subscription
-Buyers are spending money too so this chosen method should allow buyers to purchase any and everything an eso Plus member has access to but through seperate real money (not crowns)
What to do with crowns:
-I believe this currency should remain so that previous investments aren't lost, however items for sale should show in the crown store AND show on your website as well as the PS4 and Xbox stores as real money purchases. I do not think seperate crowns should be available for purchase at all. Crowns should only accumulate via a subscription as some of your items would need to be unlocked via crowns for the subscriber if it's outside of a subscription access (really only limited items like a house, but not mounts or costumes as those should just be accessed while active sub exists.
How to deal with consumables:
I believe there are desires to keep these available as real money items, however I personally feel any new item should follow the above suggestion
Eso plus benefits to tie to dlc:
-crafting bags
-bank extension
-costume dye
What should differ for eso Plus vs buyers
-to continue established value the subscriber would have an unlimited crafting bag whereas the buyer would have maybe 100-150 slots
-the subscriber would have a little more extra bank slots vs the buyer
-the subscriber should be able to make character and race changes once per week included.
-the subscriber would have access to crown store exclusives and limited offers as long as their sub is active and was active during the limited periods
-the buyer would need to purchase limited time items or additionally subscribe
Logically this doesn't take any revenue away but it also aligns to offer three different types of buyers, straight forward options.
Even considering your chapters are outside of eso Plus, perhaps this idea serves as a means to rethink excluding chapters to subscribers.
People seem to want to give you money freely but they don't want to be taken advantage of or possibly misinformed and loss out or even get upset and leave
