lorebook discovered

For some reason since about 2 days regardless of what i read, i get quite often the feedback "lorebook discovered" - for normal books and book shelfs and the such which aren't lore books...is that a recent bug?

If you complete the mages guild questline, you get a special passive skill from Shalidor. It allows you to remember every single book / text you have read throughout your travels. So every new book counts as a lorebook.

More than likely you have recently completed the Mages Guild main quest, if that is the case then it is intended and it is normal as one of the end rewards is the ability to "remember" everything you read which makes just about everything a lore book ( though these do not qualify for Mages Guild skill line xp ).

If the above is not the case then it is indeed not working as intended.

There are hundreds of yellow books which are lore books. Usually a yellow glow but many are hidden out of plain site in shelves. Look in your journal under "lorebooks" might even be around 1,000+ of these. I've never counted but there are hundreds more than the blue mage lorebooks.

The blue glow are mage books that also give the lore book jingle and notification but what you're asking includes both and is likely the result if reading those

oooh yeah that makes a lot of sense, thanks.... first i was already hoping for a bug increasing my mages guild skill line but nope :-)

I should rephrase, once you get eidetic memory all books even non ,blue and yellow' show us on your screen as a lore book, when previous to that they don't.

From what he is saying, its easy to assume he has been reading from shelves and miscelaneous notes all around prior to two days ago, so these zone specific lores is not just what he is experiencing.

This above is exactly what it is. Lorebooks to what I've described are those in bookshelves as well as on tables, floors, etc.

I think you are incorrect (I'm sure you are actually), OP's opening words "For some reason since about 2 days regardless of what i read," suggests the change has exponentially made a difference, we know there are "lore books" on shelves etc but the "Lorebook discovered" message becomes noticebly more regular when having completed the Mages Guild questline.

There we go, ha if only that was the case mate, mages guild takes a lot of effort to grind.

best way to do it is collect all zone lore (yellow books) as when you complete a zone you get an extra bonus, obviously pick up all blue books you see too along the way, as these are duplicated around Tamriel if the 3 factions.

Then purely for research purposes put one of those alts through the Mages Guild questline and while things are fresh come back and tell us whether the frequency of "lore books" stays the same or there is a sudden increase... It will be the latter.

I'm doing too much too late sorry, we are talking about the same "yellow" books

I was skim reading too fast and misread the first two comments as to say completing mage books from shalidors not mage guild quest line. Sorry
