Anniversary gift boxes

I see the anniversary gift boxes appearing as quest rewards in the dialog when I go to turn in the daily jester quests, but don't actually received them. I asked in zone chat and others are seeing the same.

I think the boxes aren't supposed to start dropping until tomorrow so them appearing in the quest dialog would appear to be the bug.

Same, except I did it with crafting writs and handed in far most of them before realising I didn't get this sweet reward even though it said I would. That's 7 anniversary boxes I'm missing because of that bug. If only I had logged in 50 minutes later today...

Anniversary event starts in 5 minutes.
Any boxes collected before are too early.
Makes sense imho.

Actually i think it would make sense if they don't give us anything before the event starts

The weird thing is not that we didn't get the boxes. The weird thing is that the game said we would. And then we didn't.

And just as weird is that some people did when others didn't so I will try with crafter no. 4 and see what happens now

The event is live as of 1.5 hours ago, so everyone should be receiving Anniversary Gift Boxes properly now.

Sure. But I'm not sure how an event is "activated" across all the servers (one megaservers being actually thousands of interconnected servers). As far as I understand, it's not like you can have something not exist at 3.59 and all of a sudden be active at 4.00 . Some code has to "spread" across the servers - which would explain why we got some boxes slightly ahead of time.
I may be wrong though. I'm no computer tech nor coder. Would be interested to know more, actually. @ZOS_GinaBruno , some insight into these things in an upcoming ESO Live ?

its seems the event was time zone related as someone was getting them last night at my time April 4, 4am EST (i did not had event started) but for him it was already day april 4, passed 10am.

So with the 14 hours difference between our two countries, for him the event started, but not for me. Seems logical,

I do have some coding experience and it's nothing so complicated as code needing to spread.

There would simply be a line in the code stipulating that the anniversary reward boxes only be awarded between two certain points in time. A similar line of code would be in the NPC quest reward dialog.

What likely happened here is the quest dialog code referenced the wrong time, like my local time instead of the server time.

I did dailies for crafting, got the event gift boxes for each turn in.

However I did a turn in for a dark brotherhood contract daily (first one that day) and a thieves guild stealing mission daily (first one of the day) and didn't get event gift boxes for either one.

It has actually been about 3 days since I did thief or brotherhood dailies. So it cannot be because of any multiples on the same day or anything like that.

Both of those quests are infinite and not daily, so they don't give reward boxes. Heists and Sacraments are the dailies for those guilds that give boxes.

This bug hasn't been fixed. I got it coming the other way at the end of the anniversary during the final hours.

Quest NPCs were not displaying the anniversary gift boxes as rewards on turning in quests, but were rewarding them.

This fits the theory that the NPC quest reward display code is using the wrong server time variable. Likely the user's local time rather than server time.
