Now we had the Jester festival. When we had a previous event? In December? And you think it's too often?
This particular statement of yours made me laugh:
I haven't been able to run a dungeon in over 6 months
Getting festival-related collectibles and achievements does not take as long as you described it. You're simply overreacting. I run dungeons/trials, do quests, chat with friends etc. every day and at the same time I have all collectibles and achievements from the events. And I am a working person who has time to play only in the evenings.
If you are so obsessed with obtaining every single thing in this game - it is only YOUR problem. No one forces you to celebrate! Let other people have fun.

In my opinion (and not everybodies) this is an Elder Scrolls game and the questing and work that's gone into them is the most rewarding and fun part of the game (as basically it eliminates the RNG that stresses so many). But with ONE TAMRIEL a new player can basically go anywhere, and coming into the game it might be - BANG - TG anniversary where you can grind and get double motif drops and double nodes, then - BAM - A festival which has lots of collectibles and titles that any new player might strongly desire. Wait a second it s - BOOM - housing and the grind to get patterns and materials. Rinse and repeat. These people can quite possibly be distracted / pressured into missing out on the most glorious part of the game (again only in my opinion). That of the simple quest and storyline.

That kind of describes me.
I still haven't finished the base game (in the last alliance zone now) and got stopped on that with master writ grinding for housing, the double motif drops (which I needed for writs) and thief guild xp, and .... then this event.
Was hoping to get back to it but then I read the 3rd anniversary event is due!

We also had the double AP 'event' in Cyrodiil a little while ago, but as that was for testing purposes on Zeni's side I don't count that myself.

But only the Jester event came with achievements and collectibles. So I don't see a problem OP has described (with collectibles etc.). Moreover, if someone doesn't enjoy these festival quests and at the same time is a 'collector', he can just buy all the things in the guild stores.

Wasn't there also the Wrothgar / Orsinium Anniversary thrown in there / just before as well? I wasn't sure of the dates so didn't want to bring them up and possibly make an ill-informed arse out of myself so thanks for actually knowing. And if TG was the week till 20th march, and Jesters was end of March - 4th April, and now the 3rd Anniversary, that'd actually be 3 events in less than a month. TOO MUCH!!!!
You haven't been able to run a dungeon in 6 months? What kind of guild is that? All of my guilds (even the trading ones) run dungeons daily/weekly, from regular ones to pledges, randoms and trials.
I can assure you festivals are not the problem of your guild.
ZOS, keep the festivals coming, and as often as possible please.
This time the drop rates were really, really weird.
Last time I couldn't possibly find enough people to give away the purple recipes to. Weeks after the event I finally just started walking up to players on the newbie islands and opening a trade window and giving them runeboxes and purple recipes and motifs.
This time I didn't get purple recipes for all 12 characters but got lots of runeboxes (which I can't give away - I've tried) and 60-some Festival Banners. I made a flying wing of them in one of my storage houses, it's kinda cool looking.
Logicbomb00 wrote: »So. Double XP is a grand thing and I have no complaints here. The problem is that all these new Festivals seem to be getting closer and closer together until maybe one day it's just one big long Festival, and they are ruining the gaming experience of myself and many I speak to because of the 'limited edition' collectibles and achieves that they include. I understand the whole 'hidden' philosophy behind this> ZOS wants you to keep on grinding content and keep on playing the game no matter how you enjoy it.
My problem is that I enjoy several aspects of the game. I run my own guild of over 250 members. I like to run the occasional dungeon. But I also like to have as many collectibles as I can. Lately it seems that this is all the game has devolved into. Festival after Festival of 'limited edition' garbage which people like me just can't resist. My guild management is slipping. I haven't been able to run a dungeon in over 6 months due to the incessant desire to have these limited things, and although I fully realise that this is totally my choice, ZOS can we please just have a friggin break to take a breath and actually enjoy the game for a bit. Run a dungeon perhaps. Do a quest or two. And be able to do these things without the hovering dread that maybe I'm wasting time when I should be working on grinding an alt with double XP or working harder to get more limited collectibles.

Yeah I think they've definitely gone overboard with the limited time stuff.I don't care about achievements that don't give any sort of reward. I have better things to do then travel the world for a gold star and a "good job!" Like pvp or pledges.
I don't care about the titles. Motifs and dyes I appreciate and will 'work' for.
With writ vouchers being based on recipes known, unfortunately that now creates pressure to collect all the recipes for multiple characters

They are not based on recipes known, but on the achievements under that category. For example if you have learned 100 recipes, even green ones, you still get [Recipe Book] achievement. Others are just granted after you max your skill, and craft a purple food or drink, which doesn't need to be festival related. So festivals have really no contribution here.
