Purpose of these sets is to get people wear them, then realising theyre useless so they take them off. Then people like me can ogle them while theyre getting naked. Slurps.

There are a plethura of these weak sets in the game, mostly from the base game. 90% of the crafted sets are also crap.

This set is part of my secondary set for my stam sorc. I wear it everywhere but trials/dungeons. You don't need max dps or anywhere close out in the overworld. I don't even think my set is higher than cp 140 either. It's exactly for what it says, filling soul gems.

But there are so many ways to fill soul gems, hell there's even a passive which fills soul gems upon weapon kills. And if you really want to go far, a skill which will fill 2 soul gems. Besides, ever since One Tamriel, there's so few empty soul gems that drop. Most of them are filled.

There are 35 crafted armor sets in the game, and about 5 of them are sometimes useful.

In terms of PvE, I really do not care if they're useless or not..stat wise. I'd wear it if I was a stam build, and for the soul gem fill. Seems to work best for low levels such as myself (well, relatively low level) who can't craft or wear the higher grade sets. Instead of wasting an ability on your bar, you have the 5 piece combo.

Like I said, not of much use past level 30ish or so. Meant for newbies who are usually attracted by these kinds of flashy set descriptions.

Edit - Nevermind. I just saw that it was CP 160/Lvl 50. IN that case..who in the hell would want to wear that set at so high a level? Or was that a pull from the wiki/your own level set?

I have more than 3 full stacks of empty soul gems from doing enchanting writs. This set would be much more helpful for filling those than soul trap or the small chance from the passive would be.

I keep a set for when I rack up a thousand or two empty soul gems.

It works quite nice.

what's really sad is that this set drops in Vaults of Madness...it's so depressing to get this as your drop from a boss in that dungeon

Those require completion of parts of the main story... and not everybody does the story on every alt. And there are plenty of places for empty soul gems. So, while not terribly useful, the set has it's uses.

its basically a hell of a prosperous on steroids - actually like 60gp bonus per kill as long as you have the empties and the empties are plentiful.

just load the set for a brief run every couple weeks and it pays for itself many times over.

Well, after the plethora of better sets obtained only by endless runs in vet dungeons etc. reducing most crafted sets to crap, it became obvious the devs wanted us to participate in mind-numbing run after run collecting those juicy Prosperous and Training items, in hopes of getting a vision of the supreme RNGeezus gear.

I'll be quite dismayed if crafted gear (especially) and dungeon gear (possibly) doesn't get a tuning pass. Only reason why useless dropped sets might persist for much longer is because they already tuned them (LOL) in One Tamriel.

But crafted gear is just sad, sad business. And the plethora of motifs only rubs in how worthless they are and how cool they could be.

It would be a lot better as a medium instead of heavy armor.

But the 5 piece procs on anything. I just equip it, go to Monkey's Rest, and load all my soul gems in a few minutes.
Then sell the extra white meat and bananas for tens of gold in sweet sweet profit.

Maybe the purpose for this set is just to fill up all those empty soul gems. And that's it nothing more. Gives you DPS to kill enemies quicker to fill up soul gems. Not every set has to give you a big bonus for PvP or PvE combat. I would use that set to fill soul gems quickly and then equip my main set back.

Well... it is a farming set... in cyro PvP soul gems deplete pretty quick... so after a while you have to either go to PvE zones to traders guild to buy more or just farm them...

Yes the soulgem part is junk, however the 2 and 3 part bonus is good.
Might not be updated as its an passive soul trap effect who have 5% or something chance of trapping now, however back at launch we had to buy and fill gems for cyrodil as you could easy run trough 30 or more

Agree, it would not be an issue as an overland set.
Itemization is horrible.
I have nothing against utility gear we should have more of it, but it should be crafter or overland gear, not dungeon drops.
