[XBOX NA] unable to create new character?

So I'm trying to create a mageblade to level up before the event ends. I've got 6/8 character slots full. For some reason, every time I try to create my character and click finish, it just does nothing. It has me enter a name, attempts to validate it, then just bumps me back into the creation screen. I tried many different names including just smacking my chat pad, so it's not a taken name issue. Can anyone help me with this? If I don't get it created tonight I'm going to miss out on the event.
