Mudballs hurt the thin skinned

I was playing the lute at the Mournoth Dolmen in Bangkorai, waiting for the anchor to drop. There were about 8 other players there, waiting as well.

Well, someone threw a mudball at me, I threw a mudball at them, someone else threw a mudball at someone, a few more mudballs went flying. It was muddy.

But then a player went around, to each person there, and claimed to have filed a report on them for harassing her. She says her gameplay was being interrupted.
A few people asked if she was being serious and she became very hostile in the chat.

I kept playing my lute.

Does this really bother players who are just standing idle? Ican understand if you are dyeing your gear or dueling but just standing there?

Well, I've noticed some people are getting mad and supposedly "reporting" players who use the cherry blossom branch on them.

They're certainly a nuisance for roleplayers. Not only can trolls disrupt RP notmally, now they have a degree of control over what people's characters are doing.

Find a corner to role play in, not a Dolmen. It was more of a spontaneous mudball fight (anchor took several minutes to drop) than an organized troll party to sabotage a role player.

Do you think that doing rp events next to dolmens is the smartest thing to do?

I love mudballing people because it's a dumb and innocent thing to do in-game. Most people don't care. I actually love getting mudballed back. But I know when not to mudball, like with RPers and people at dye stations. However, there are just people who get overly butthurt over such a measly thing. So I still do it, cuz it's exactly that. Measly. To the people who get upset over a 3d in-game mudball, eat my sphere of wet clumped-up dirt.

I very occasionally find myself roleplaying near to a dolmen, but I readily accept that i'm likely to be interrupted (as is the case anywhere I guess). It still doesn't bother me, I don't get upset about it, and to be fair i'm usually left alone anyway.

That player was probably just having a really bad day and the mudball thing was the last straw for them.

Even if they reported you all for mudballing each other, I highly doubt ZOS would do anything.

The person complaining would have to show that players were specifically targeting them to disrupt their game play.

As an RPer myself? Nah. I mean with the general louder ones that give ACTUAL RPers a bad name? Yeah, I could see that; however they're just as toxic as a troll is so it's whatever.

Now for adding instances to the topic? I seen one guy at a wayshrine get mad because he got mudballed, dueled, and the result was just hilariously childish.

Haha and some people still seem surprised that reporting players is useless.

Sounds like bot too much attention seeking, i mean get annoyed or offended enough to report someone is one thing running around making sire everyone know they have been reported another.

Maybe the real bot reports take sooo long to get looked into because of stuff like this. If you get X reports on your desk and 0.5x of them are from griefing it may take a while to get to the real cases.

they were a cute idea. . .and then trolls got them.

same thing as if someone threw a little mud or dust on your car. does it hurt it in any way? nope. does it still annoy the crap out of you? yup.

should be a restriction to friends, party members, maybe guildmates.

but the ones that use it the most are trolls

    -people using the dye station?
    troll uses mud balls
-very pretty character that someone worked hard on and plays?
    troll uses mud balls
RPers having a cool scene that a troll stumbles across?
    troll uses mud balls

its not funny, its dumb, childish, and annoying.

I'm am not defending the OP's incident and what they were doing sounded fine. not all players that throw mud balls are trolls. . .but all trolls throw mud balls.

BTW it can be reported as harassment. it does violate terms of service and thus can get your account temporarily or permanently suspended.

Players reporting other players for using items/activities provided by zos need an ID10T award. Do they really think their complaints have any traction? zos can't hardly punish players for using items zos gave us. Think, people, think!

cherry - during the festival where this is an achievement - no prob.

mudballs - at say dye stations after event over - this could be interference. otherwise, meh. if someone asks you to stop and you continue, then maybe actionable.

Getting a mudball thrown at me isn't in the same category as getting dirt thrown at my car. Not even close. Also, people don't single out someone based on how pretty their character is. I doubt they care very much or feel the same.

Lord of the Rings Online used to have certain event items that would cause characters to be pulled into a forced emote ( like cowering in fear, falling down, etc. ). Players complained, and Turbine eventually added a toggle that disabled forced emotes being used on you.
