Will gear be raised to CP180 with Morrowind?

Is the level cap being raised or staying the same?

I've been wanting to update my gear but I would hate to do so if it will need to be changed in less than 3 months.

The armour cap is not being raised with Morrowind, confirmed by the developers already.

To clarify, we do not plan on raising the gear cap when Morrowind launches in June. We’ll let you know when we plan to raise the gear cap in the future, but it won’t be in Homestead or Morrowind.

I wouldn't go that far. It's been raised before and we all adjusted. But I just wanted to make sure.

and i think if ZOS don't want to anger the majority of players, they will bring along the upgrade lv items into the game if they ever raise the gear cap again (or at least upgrade the current cp160 gears on those who is above say cp180)

    So nothing to worry about

Devs have actually moved away from that model in 2 steps last year: removed VR in DB (June) and battle-levelled all content on OneTM (October). So it's unlikely they would add more of the same vertical progression back.

Not "rumoring"... I asked a question.

My VR14 gear didn't have an upgrade option. So I wouldn't assume current gear would either.

But I am glad to hear that there in no immediate plan to upgrade the gear.

I hope they add new gear though so we can update those items atleast. That's much better, because the CP 10-160 was the worst in the game in my experience. Making it 10-180 just makes it harder for new players to get there. Not everyone gets 5m enlightenment etc. Once you're 160 you're part of the game, part of the economy etc, and you can go out and do other stuff, like grind spriggans dagger to sell if you want.

I do remember, some time ago, many new materials being data mined and even a few with a CP180 description.
Glad to hear it is not coming with Morrowind.

I don't remember where I saw it but I think ZOS said basically that they're not raising the gear cap this time because if they do it in future they want to make sure everyone isn't starting over with grinding new gear, and they're not sure how to go about that yet.

So it might happen at some point in the future, but hopefully it won't mean everyone in CP160 gear has to scrap it and start grinding new stuff to replace it.

I remember the mad dash of IC release and the only way to get the mats were to decon gear from imperial city.

Hope something like that doesn't happen again.

But before it wasnt in an all scaled environment. Being v14 vs v10 helped, there was actual relative gains.

Raising alk gear caps in a scaled environment doesnt get you that. Being cp180 v cp180 is no gain over being cp160 v cp160.

Now, if they do a limited uptick, like say only letting crafted setsvgo to 170-200, then there is method to the madness.

But i doubt that will happen.

    Okay.

Pretty sure everyone with vma gear will rage quit. It's been a long time since anything made all your gear worthless.

Like others have said here, there will be a TON of very pissed off people if they raise the gear cap. People that have farmed VMA over and over again because of the dumb RNG system everyone *** about.

Raising the level cap, I dare they try it lol.

I hope they do raise the CP cap. But they need to fix the loot table for VMA and implement a token system for monster sets before hand.

I do not wanna sit around for years with the same gear. Other MMO's have different tiers, I do not wanna be like other MMO's but you gold out every single piece of gear that is on you.

Please raise the CP next year.

With all of the: Gold I've spent, Mats I've farmed and blown Crafting just the right gear, and (most importantly) TIME I've spent getting a full slate of CP160 equipment and weapons, and then improving them all to Gold; if ZOS were to arbitrarily raise the CP max of gear...

Well, I'm not saying I'd rage-quit per se, but I'd definitely stay with my current CP160 gear rather than farm the "new maximum" gear. And it's also safe to say that my play time in ESO would go from me playing every night as I do now, to a trickle, and it would stay that way well into the foreseeable future.

With the changes Wrobel is forcing down everyone's throats, I don't have the willpower or the fight left in me to do yet another gear/mat/improvement mat grind.

That "fight" has long since left me, and it would most likely guarantee that I would begin earnestly exploring other MMORPG's in lieu of ESO.

But since the Devs have already stated multiple times that they aren't doing this with Morrowind, I won't worry about it... for now. But should it happen at some unknown time in the future? The same effects would still apply.

It's an MMO. I could care less if they raise the cap tomorrow, next update or next year. I'm still gonna play and it gives me something to do.

Then again, I wear mostly crafted gear and would rather jump into traffic then do a PVE dungeon more than a few times.

Says who? They haven't done anything like that before, AFAIK.
They haven't done this in the whole three-year life of the game.

Most likely, they won't implement this either.

If ZOS WERE going to implement this type of existing-item-upgrade, it would have been very easy to implement it when they raised the cap from CP140 to CP160.

    But they didn't.

Players were forced to rush out and farm all new Mats. Refine them and get rewarded with or buy new improvement Mats to get their gear to Gold, and had to go out and grind out all new Monster Set gear at the higher CP cap to replace their (now sub-par) CP140 gear.

The anger among the player base over this was nothing short of legendary.

But the best way to predict future behavior is to look at the past. IF ZOS raises the equipment CP cap again, expect to have to grind out new... everything.

Just like we've had to do every time in the past.
