Yep definitely Verandis, my favourite NPC in ESO .

I would love a quest like that too, I was pretty disappointed that I couldn't find him in Coldharbour.

who exactly are all the vampire characters in game? what can we choose from? I only remember the few from the rivenspire story line

Verandis had the most interesting backstory, and unlike some other zones, I actually got caught up in the storyline and was interested in seeing how it turned out. Probably my favorite NPC after Raz.

I really don't trust Verandis. He gave an artifact of immense destructive power... to the daedric prince ACTIVELY ATTACKING OUR WORLD. And he even admits that Molag Bal is his master. He doesnt say it in a way like "Molag Bal is the father of all vampires", but in the "I serve the Lord of ***" way. It was especially jarring because the Fighter's Guild storyline is almost exactly the same, except we destroy/banish the artifact.

Who DO I like? Adusa Daro is pretty awesome. "If wishes were fishes, Adusa would be one happy cat."

It's been a while since I did the quest, but Verandis either implies or outright states that he was turned by Molag Bal himself, or at least is pretty damn pure-blooded if you will, so he's kind of inexorably bound to Bal. In any case, he was backed into a corner. If the remnant remained on Nirn, it would continue to twist people and generally make life very bad. By moving it off Nirn completely, its influence is mitigated. He's not exactly happy about giving the Lord of Domination a new toy, but given the circumstances he thought it was the best option.

I'm going to stop stanning right now but Verandis is a solid guy and I hope ZOS didn't forget about him.

Yeah Verandis. Hard to think of any others that aren't connected to him. Maybe some of the baddies but none of them really stand out.

And I didn't play Dawnguard so I can't comment on Serana.

There's Valeric and his pals in Eastmarch (the Khajiit and Dunmer whose names I can't remember for the life of me), Lamae (I guess..), the matron of the Bone Orchard and I feel like there's gotta be someone in the AD questlines (maybe that one area with the vampire hunter in Malabal Tor) but names aren't springing to mind.

Oh yeah, I did Eastmarch fairly recently so I should have remembered them. Still not as likeable as Verandis, so my original answer stands.

Verandis, Gwendis, and Valeric - in that order.

Valeric was particularly well-written, I think, especially for someone whose storyline is just a side quest in the middle of nowhere.
