2handed heavy armor Templar healer? Viable?

I just started playing this game as an Argonian Templar. I love big 2handed weapons and I love healing, but I don't like staff weapons or light armor. I was hoping to play a paladin-like healer character, but it looks like the most efficient way to be a healer is with light armor and a resto staff. Even if I ran with full magicka boosting enchants, would I ever be a useful healer in heavy armor/2handed?

    Useful for what?

    Dungeons/Trials... probably not.

    Solo play... surely

Heals (templar ones) scale off magicka. Your huge sword scales off stamina.

Yes, sorry, I meant useful for late game group play / dungeons

Heres how to get around it:

Only use heavy chest and shoulders for looks. The rest is light armor, bonus using daedric legs since they look like a lower robe.

Use an altmer resto/lightning staff. It looks like a spear, and meshes well with puncturing sweeps.

    There you go, viable paladin.

Thank you. Guess I'll start experimenting with resto staff and some light armor.
Hey, I can always wear a heavy armor costume over actual light armor, right?

I am playing a heal tank templar but it is sword and shield not greatsword.

It uses crafted armor so I get to choose my looks.

Yes, costumes have no effect on your equipped gear.

Theorycrafting, you could make a stam healer in medium armor. It's gonna be bad, but at least he will look as a paladin

You just need to unlock vigor and use DW swords.

Redistributor, Chokethorn and something that increases your weapon dmg

I would imagine that it would be hard to get into a group geared like that. You might be able to do something similar to your desired build in pvp.

I tried Lynx's staff + puncturing sweeps suggestion and I really like it. I can always wear a heavy armor costume if I want. Thanks guys!
