Legendary Ancestor Celestial Style Shoulder
Convert a single legendary quality CP150-160 shoulder piece to celestial style.

To craft:
  • Celestial shoulders motif knowledge
  • 13 Ancestor silk (10% of full craft cost for said item part)
  • 1 Dreugh Wax (or purple/blue/green mats - go farm a second piece of divines bsw if you want to be cheap..)
  • 1 style material

Make crafters and especially mastercrafters have a use for all the sweet motifs. At the moment i am crafting training gear for free for random low levels just to see how the different styles look.

This system would create use for:
  • Motifs
  • Sink for tempers / materials
  • Crown store motif sales

I would allow every single piece to be able to be converted, monster helm and vMA staff and all. Now, im just using a costume, not because it looks good, but because it looks better than BSW/Necropotence, even if everyone else is looking just like me. With this system, if you want to show off and wear the face of your slain enemies or half a shoulder sure, go ahead and do so, they still look UNIQUE, even more so as not everyone is forced to wear them.

As what comes into the "dont want people in heavy run around in dresses in Cyrodiil", at least now you can tell if they are wearing heavy, medium or light armor, some people will still use a costume, but everyone will "not have to as they can look good without"..

They maybe staying silent because they make money off costumes to cover up ugly gear sets . As much as most of us would really like a transmog system , there would less demand for costumes .

Doesn't this mean only master crafters would be able to change their gear? As you won't be able to trade an item like a monster helm which is bound.

But more demand for motifs (farmed and crown store). Besides, I think the people that will buy costumes will do so in the future, people not paying for costumes are like me, running around in the assassins guild dress or some other free costume.

Master crafters would be able to craft an item, that allows to change style for said level of gear, so jute materials for jute item conversion pack, ancestor silk for cp160 gear. By being an tradable item you create market for master crafters and incentive to actually get the motifs, at the moment its not worth to collect many of the "hard to get" ones. Even less so the crown store - the frostcaller had nice weapons i would love to use, but didn't buy it since i wont be using it anyway.

This kept me away from the crown store motifs myself I liked the look of them but there is just no real use for them as all the gear I use it dropped sets that look horrible.

I fully support this thread and the 1000000 threads about it too, it's the one topic that is desperately needed and... I have... no idea why they release new motifs at the moment, not a clue! There is no way at all I am throwing my trial gear in the bin for crafted sets, so there is very little drive to collect the new motif styles, either... or spend the crowns on the exclusive ones, at that.

Sort it out, ZoS, give us transmog?

As much as I do like most of the costumes I've accumulated during my time with ESO, it would be so nice not to have to cover up whatever dropped set I'm wearing under said costumes.. even if it would be super expensive/difficult to transmog..
I, and I'm sure plenty of others, have so many nice motifs that will never see the light of day since crafted sets aren't BiS and I would certainly like to be able to use them beyond making gear for levelling alts..
So I'm totally behind the idea of a transmog system.

Why is this not already a thing!? God damn it! Seriously. I hate, hate, HATE, how some of the dropped sets look. Still wear them anyway because they're 'BiS'.

Even if this change was implemented, which wouldn't be hard anyway because the system is already in place for those that have the Imperial edition upgrade, I would STILL buy costumes because I'm a costume nut! I just don't wear them usually while I'm fighting but would love to have more control over how my gear looks even if it's a Monster set, dropped piece of gear!

Crafted sets are only good for so many set ups and having the ability to change the look of Monster/Dropped pieces of gear would really let me make use of all those motifs I spent so long getting!

Probably not, most of the costumes are out of place in combat.
Transmog would boost sale of rare motifs and the universal style stones on the other hand.
The idea above would intensify this as it require the player to know the style, he can not buy an style piece from other.

Guild Wars 2 has a great transmog system and the game is also Buy to Play.

Also they allow you to trade gold for gems .

Also they have a better achievement reward system.

Besides that , ESO is a better game :)

Converting imperial gear only work for non set items making it legendary level useless.

it might also point to an issue with data structure for items if style somehow it part of set and not the item itself.
However this would be stupid for crafted sets who can have any style

So, if am understanding this correctly, you would essentially "craft" a drop set to look like another motif? If this is correct, then I am behind it. I am already behind transmog. It helps to really make toons unique and not get stuck with crap looking gear, but I like this idea.

And idea that I had goes as follows:

    1. Take gear to mages guild
    2. Find mage that specializes in illusion magic (special vendor)
    3. Place order (Which armour piece/weapon that needs transmog and which piece to transmog. You would need a piece of matching type armour/weapons (heavy for heavy, light for light, sword for sword, ax for ax, etc.))
    4. Pay fee and receive both pieces back. The new piece transmogged to match the style of the "donor" piece.
    5. Profit
    6. Your toon now unique in look with the dungeon set bonuses you want

Craft an item, that is tradable and can be sold to those that dont have all the motifs. This item is a consumable, and used like an enchant to a already owned piece of gear. Only replaces the style instead of the vMA enchant. (Ps. dont enchant your vMA staffs!)

I think the issue is a bit more complicated. I remeber some posts from the devs about the "convert to Imperial" function. It does not change the style of the item but deletes the item from your inventrory and gives you another one in Imperial style. So most likely the style is "bound" to the item in the game code and every item in every style is a separate "entity". So to make all the sets "convertable" they either have to change the way the items are handled by the engine or add every piece of every set in every style to the code. 40+ styles, 31 items and 200+ sets. And that's a lot of new entries so they might be limited by some perfomance issues. (remeber, we can't even put more than 700 items in a house due to them...)
