Yeah, I know that fire damage procs Burning Spellweave and which abilities deal fire damage. My question targets the relation between the status effect "Burning" and the increase in spell damage from the Burning Spellweave set.
Is the application of the status effect "Burning" tied to the Burning Spellweave proc in a way that increasing the chance to proc the status effect "Burning" increases the chance to proc Burning Spellweave? Or can Burning Spellweave proc without the status effect?
BSW basically procs from every single flame damage so I think it procs from ''Burning'' status effect as well . Judging by your first post , I understand that you want to increase Burning status effect hits in order to increase bsw uptime but I don't think it will be nearly as good as a Sharpened weapon . Sharpened gives almost 11% damage bonus . On the other hand , using a Charged weapon will definitely increase Burning status effect uptime but also will reduce your overall damage a lot . A mDK can use BSW with 66% uptime with double Sharpened Staves which is almost maximum . Other Magicka classes can keep it up 60% as well . 6% uptime increase on BSW proc is nothing compared to Sharpened weapon's damage bonus .
I am trying to identify means to reliably proc Burning Spellweave within the shortest time possible in PvP.Yeah, I know that fire damage procs Burning Spellweave and which abilities deal fire damage. Burning is considered flame damage, so can proc BSW. But I don't think that that was your question -
The mention of 'burning' in the BSW tooltip has nothing to do with the method of proccing the set; it is just saying that when BSW does proc it gives you both the SD buff and places the burning status effect on the enemy. It's mentioning burning as an effect of the proc, not a cause of it.
Thank you, that was indeed the question.
So Burning Spellweave has two different effects:
1) It standardizes the chance of the application of the elemental effect "Burning" from
Weapon enchants 20% (40% with destro equipped)
Standard ability 10% (20% with destro equipped)
Area of effect abilities 5% (10% with destro equipped)
Damage over time abilities 3% (6% with destro equipped)
Area of effect damage over time abilities 1% (2% with destro equipped)
to
All the above mentioned methods 20% (40% with destro equipped)
AND
2) Gives a 20% chance to proc a 600 Spell Damage increase for 8 sec with 12 sec cooldown
AND
these effects are independent of each other?
