Suggestion: Prison for Cheaters

I like this idea. It's funny and it sends a message to the botters/cheaters at the same time. Not 5 years, though ... that would be 5 years in real time! They should have to stay in the jail cell for maybe one month real time ... essentially like being suspended for one month, because there'd be nothing for them to do in the jail.

This would literally just encourage more cheating. If you have to spend active time in the prison it encourages them to put a rubber band on their controller and leave their character pacing around the the thing overnight and preventing an idle kick.

The prison is an excellent idea though, it certainly would teach people to not cheat.

Given how zealots on these forums will label anything that gives people an edge over them as cheating, I am totally against anything of this kind.

I would be serving life now due to exploiting, macroing or animation cancelling if it was players passing judgement.

Prison? Maybe. Or just prohibition of some sort. Like debuff on XP where you gain nothing for some time. Debuff on nodes, preventing you to farm them. No keys from undaunted pledges for some time, etc.

Cheaters get a 10 day mandatory red bounty which cannot be repaid. And guards will constantly spanw to harass them, all the time, irregardless of where they might be.

No, this enforces that if you pay money you can break rules.

Serious they don't need anything fancy, just a two or three strike system like every other MMO.

That's fine, they can do all the effort of getting everything again, then when they cheat and we ban them again they can repeat it.

There is going to be a point where the effort is not worth the reward for them. Either they get banned, learn and come back to play fair or they keep getting banned and waste their time/life.

They will just make a new account and get at it. I've seen plenty of people who have random numbers and characters for account names mindlessly AoE-ing dungeons and I suspect many of those are in fact accounts creating specifically for botting. Who on earth will put something like "A56HJKPO78_3GHUUz_O36" as login (not actual name, just example)?

They were going to do something similar in Age of Conan. That was even going to allow players to stand outside the Prison Yard and taunt the offenders. I'm not sure if it ever got put in, but if it did from what it sounded like it didn't really stop anybody.

The biggest problem is bots again. If you put a bot account in prison they are going to do what they do if you permaban the account. Go buy another account and keep botting.

A justice system that made cheaters vulnerable to any player in the normal PVE environment for X amount of time would be good, upstanding players could then make them pay

Do you mean me acting like cheating is a RL crime or others? As I have only been asking for what is expected of a online game which is those who cheat/abuse get banned maybe with a strike system.

Again nothing but gimmicks, if they want a justice system for in game crimes, sure. As for players cheating/exploiting they should face bans as per the ToS they agreed to.

I think they should just ban more. And if they arent going to ban people indefinitely, they should give a reason to the players as to why via public announcement. If ZOS doesnt enforce the rules then they arent rules at all.
