What is the best rotation for a mag sorc?

Now that I leveled mages guild up, and my alchemy I can pull 32.6k dps testing by self on the 3 mil target dummy. I could do better if I could settle on a rotation, and practice it.

I'm currently running 5x burning spell weave, 2x illambris, 3x ather jewelry, 2 sharpened inferno staves.

Bar 1: bound ageis, force pulse, haunting curse, Crystal frags, inner light

Bar 2: bound aegis, liquid lighting, blockade of fire, mages wrath, ele drain.

Here's 2 rotations that I'm currently looking at running. One is fairly simple and I like it due to the high uptime of curse, lighting, and blockade. It's also easy to keep track of during raids while shielding, avoiding mechanics etc. The other one, not so much. I'll post them both and see what you guys think.

Rotation 1:

Step 1: liquid lighting, light attack, blockade of fire, light attack, bar swap

Step 2: haunting curse, light attack, force pulse weave x5 (while weaving frags on proc), bar swap

Step 3: Liquid lightning, light attack, blockade, light attack, force pulse weave x5 (frags on cool down), haunting curse, bar swap.

Step 4: liquid lightning, light attack, blockade, bar swap, light attack, force pulse weave x6 (frags on proc)

Then it start all over. Shooting star on cool down as well.

Rotation 2:

Step 1: haunting curse, light attack, shooting star, light attack, bar swap

Step 2: liquid lightning, light attack, blockade, light attack, bar swap, light attack, force pulse weave x6 (frags on proc), bar swap

Step 3: liquid lightning, light attack, blockade, light attack, bar swap, haunting curse, light attack, force pulse weave x6 (frags on cooldown), bar swap.

Step 4: liquid lightning, light attack, blockade, bar swap, light attack, force pulse weave x3, haunting curse, light attack, force pulse weave x3 (frags on cooldown), barswap.

Step 5: liquid lightning, light attack, blockade, barswap, light attack, force pulse weave ( frags on cooldown)

Repeat.

Is this like your rotation? Which of these two do you think would be better to run?

If you have a rotation that is different and wouldn't care to post it, I would love to give it a try! Thanks guys!

Take off ele drain for raids. Healers should deal with that and place a shield (harness or hardened) in its place.

Rotation is something like spell pot-curse, destro uktimate- liquid lightning- blockade- force pulse about 7 times then repeat with dots.

Light weave (or medium weave depending on magika support) with each attack.

Use mage guild ult on bosses after dropping that first ult. Destro ult only ok trash and opening pool or just mage guild ult.

There are some variations but that's the gist.

If you go to Tamrielfoundry.com > forums then scroll to the sorc section you'll find some good builds. Nos, Yolo and some others have good raid builds.

I pretty much follow rotation 1 that you have listed and repeat. I also make sure my DoT's are down and jump tm y single target bar and curse and spam force pulse until frags props, from here I try and time the drop on my DoT's to be reapplying them the moment they go down. I use Elemental Storm and drop that when I can, if resources get low I will use Overload.

I run a Dunmer Mag Sorcerer that has Inferno Staff on his front bar, and restoration and Healing Skills on his back bar.

I use Force Pulse, Encase, Frags (when it procs), Liquid Lighting, and the Clannfear to run intercept on groups. My ultimate toggles between Bat Swarm and the Destro Ultimate depending on my mood (do I want to cleanse them with fire? Or do I want to eat them alive? Decisions... lol)

Please do not post anything regarding Sorcerer on forum, they are currently OP in PVP!

Shield stacking, curse, crystal frag, destro Ultimates, strife..just OP!

Pro Tip: When talking about PvP in any game, the most common reaction is; if it kills you, it MUST BE overpowered...

I haven't seen a video game Forum yet where this hasn't been true.

It's like people are shocked at the notion that they'd ever die in a PvP match... And in every single one of those Forums, there's a whole host of dethroned competitive Gods screaming their shriveled little raisins off because they died.

It's a tale as old as the games themselves.

While your build is great for solo questing, OP is apparently looking for dungeon trial builds based in his current setup. Encase and the clanfear are not useful in trial and dungeons and are a loss of dps there. However, they are great and fun in the open world.

Also, lightning staff would serve better for AoE of trash than restro staff since one can do AoE damage from range.

No knocking your build. Very common build for open world and is a lot of fun there.

Agreed, it is a fun build. I really only PvE in the over land, rarely do I go into anything higher than regular 4-man dungeons. And I just remembered that; since I'm running entirely Flame damage on my Dunmer (for very obvious reasons), I switched from Liquid Lightning to using Wall of Flame. I'm doing quite a bit more damage now along with the Destro Flame Ulti.

And I missed the intention of his post and it being geared towards Dungeon/Trial rotations. Totally my own fault. Sorry if I misled you, OP. :)

Depends on you.....depends of what is sustainable solo or grouped and that changes depending on environment. I'd suggest deltias builds with a tweak or two

Have two or three scenarios that's you're effective with solo, grouped and in trials
Adjust as needed to stay alive and support the group objectives

Oh no worries sir, I am also farming necro just for an overland set to farm world bosses and I may just use yours. Gotta get that gear ;)

@Splattercat_83 Yolo Wizard made a build video going over his rotation where he just dropped Curse, LL, Blockade, Trap, and then spammed until the 2nd curse blew, then repeat.

Considering you have 2 seconds between Curse, LL, and Blockade's cooldowns, you could potentially insert a bar swapped force pulse between each:

Light attack before all skills, BS = Bar swap
Potion, Ulti, [Curse, BS, Pulse, BS, LL, BS, Blockade, BS, Pulse/Frags]
