Trials Drop Question

For a set that can drop in multiple trials (like Vicious Serpent), is there a specific armor type that drops from a specific boss?

Example:

Boss 1 only drops helmets/gloves

Boss 2 only drops shoulders/legs

etc.

Anyone? There is a small group of players who I play with and none of us have done trials but have been interested in acquiring the sets. We're just curious if some of the best sets are "farmable" without actually beating normal trials.

Yes, specific bosses drop specific gear slots. Weapons/shields/jewelry drop from the end boss and the other body pieces drop from specific bosses in the trial. I don't know them offhand, but the info may be out there somewhere. Also note that treasure chests can drop any piece from the trial and might be your easiest way to acquire weapons and jewelry, especially if you have the treasure hunter passive active.

I believe this is not how trial's drops work. Every boss and chest in Craglorn trials has a chance of dropping a piece of VO. This chance is significantly lower in normal and higher in vet. And of course you can only get weapons and jewelry from the last boss.

yes, bu random chests in trial can drop all pieces.

Interesting. So if we say, were able to farm the first boss of a trial over and over, then we would only get the same few pieces of armor over and over?

Also, are chests anywhere in the trial, or are they like VMA where they only appear after defeating a boss?

Unless they changed it, first boss hrc drops weapons. In sanctum 1st boss drops helm/chest, 2nd boss gloves/bracer, lamia boss drops legs/shoulders, mobs drop boots. Afaik yes chests only appear after certain mob groups/bosses die.

Okay, so are the sets that drop in multiple trials, like Vicious Serpent, completely random for each boss? Meaning one could theoretically acquire any piece of armor from any boss?

I'm pretty sure they've changed it so all armor drops come from all non-final bosses.

Final boss drops weapons/shield/jewelry.

Chests can drop all items.

That's been my experience at least.

While I believe you can technically grind the first boss over and over...whats the point? if you are just there for armor, you can do the trial on normal and it's easy as hell to do that.

Only jewelry is technically needed from vet trials to complete the set.

random chests are everywhere in trials.

just go to craglorn to join a PUG normal trial, they are easy

Sorry for necroing this topic, but have similar problem.

I am solo farming the 1st boss in Aetherian Archive Trial (Lightening Storm Atronach). I am doing it since like 2 weeks, 2 - 3 runs per day. So far this boss only dropped: chest, shoulder, head or leg set piece, from various sets. (I do understand that weapons, shields and jewellery are dropped from the last boss only).

Am I just unlucky that I am unable to get waist, hand or feet ? Or maybe this boss simply dont drop those gear "slots" and my solo efforts are in vain ?

I have searched this on the internet and I was unable to find any solid info on that, as many sources seems to provide outdated information (like 1st boss dropping weapons etc.) Can some one provide any info on that ? Specifically, the 1st boss in Aetherian Archive and what gear slots it drops ?


Side note: I know I could spam LFG in Craglorn and maybe just maybe form a group, but my social skills suck. I have done vMA plenty of times and got flawless, so the skill is not an issue here. Group finder for Trials could come in handy but for some bizarre reason, after 5 years it is still not in a game...
