Using range or mostly all melee? I tend to favor medium if I plan to stay at range and heavy if I think I am going in for melee.

For PvE it's medium if you want to do damage. sustain, weapon damage and crit chance are far better than HA.

HA is often used in PvP but again, if your serious about wanting to do as much damage as possible in PvE wear medium.

This comment is incorrect. I run with a fairly laid back casual guild some and their stam dps run medium. Many casual players understand that if your going to spend 3 hours trying to clear a trial might as well contribute to the dps.

Do this poll for light armor and heavy armor for magplar. Lol youll get very different results. Specify "damage dealer" not healers as well. I have had a TON of success in light armor the past few nights with a new build. It doesnt feel as squish as i thought it would...

If you need medium armor to be able to survive a dungeon or a trial you aren't very hardcore.
Real hardcore players run dungeons with non-optimal builds for higher difficulty.

    That is your opinion.

I would argue that real hardcore players run BiS for optimal efficiency and minimum time spent.

I just prefer the medium armor play style. Roll dodging and using LOS to mitigate damage and then higher burst damage.
