DK is the archetype of tanks... so you've picked a good class. To be noted: in ESO, the only way to hold aggro is by two abilities (though there's other ways for "soft aggro" and an armor set that holds aggro- but that's unimportant for starting off).

#1. Your sword and board ability: Puncture (and it's morphs)
#2. An Undaunted Skill ability called Inner Fire.

I'm guessing you're very new- so, just focus on Puncture for now. My pro tips for any beginner tank is:

-Always wear 5 heavy armor pieces, 1 medium, and 1 light. It will help you move up in your armor skill lines... and later when you reach undaunted 9.

-Try to research items as you go. You'll want this so that you can build your own armor.

-Currently, you don't have to worry about matching armor sets as you'll most likely fly through ranks 1-50... but if you take your time leveling- there's some pretty good sets. Use this website to look at armor sets that might peak your interest:

    http://elderscrollsonline.wiki.fextralife.com/Sets

You can also view TONS of info about class abilities on that site. However, for now- you've got to decide if you want to be a Stamina-based DK, a Magicka-based DK, or a hybrid. (most likely, you'll go the hybrid route until you get a higher rank).

Absolutely helpful DK tanking skills are:

-The Searing Strike morph called Burning Embers (it's a great self heal that adds some DPS)
    -Firey Grip (pulls enemies in)
    -Spiked Armor (buffs you)
    -Dark Talons (crowd control)
    -Dragon Blood (self heal)
    -Obsidian Shield (group buff)

Remember: You can mix and match most skills... but it is absolutely imperative that you have the Sword and Board skill, Puncture on your bar.... otherwise, you won't be able to maintain aggro!

Depending on which attribute route you take- there's tons of other useful skills.

You mainly want to invest your skill points in the tanking DK abilities above, Sword and Board abilities, and Heavy Armor abilities.

I started trying out tanking and used Deltias gaming tank builds as a reference. Everything that's already been mentioned is also mentioned in Deltia's builds. But if you want some hand holding to start (I did), check out his build.

First, there's the leveling build and then there's the "later in game" tank build. I'm assuming you're going stamina dragonknight

tanks don't really have much of a rotation. not sure if there are really "builds" to use.

two skills you need from one hand and shield:
    1. pierce armor (puncture), to get aggro, and to debuff mob's defense (the defense debuff will make everyone's damage on the mob increase by abt 8%)
    2. heroic slash (low slash), to lower boss's attack power, and to regenerate ultimate for yourself

and you might want some skill for self healing and for damage shield. for example brawler and rally from twohanded line, vigor from cyrodiil alliance war.
the rest, you just fill in with buffs and utility skills you like.

rather than build, it's more important to know a tank's duty:

    1. you taunt the heavy hitting bosses and elite mobs so they dont pester your squishy allies. and debuff their attack power.

    2. you turn the boss's face away from your allies, so that their forward facing AOE attacks will only hit you, but not your allies.

    3. you debuff high hp mobs' defense, so that they can be killed faster.

    4. you block heavy attacks from all sources (shown by white sparks charging up on the mob), to avoid getting knocked down. blocking a heavy attack will also stun the mob.

    5. you bash/interrupt channel attacks from all source (shown by red sparks charging up), it will stop the attack, as well as stunning the mob.

    6. you try to aggro/slow/pull/immobilize all the mobs, to put them closely together for efficient AOE attacks.

    7. you give buffs, healing, and damage shields to allies, to make everything easier.

    8. you rez when the healer is dead (some people might disagree and say dps should rez. but i have higher hp, higher def, after i put on self healing and/or damage shield on me, i think i'm better equipped than the dps to stand still to rez.)

half the things that you need to do, positioning, blocking, bashing, rezzing, does not involve a skill button. a build isnt that meaningful for a tank imo.

You could always try that :p

DKs do make best tanks though. Just keep taunt and cc in mind. DKs can really help the group by pulling ads in with chains and rooting them there with talons, people are gonna love you for that. And remember there's no stam regen when blocking now so perma blocking is not really smart in most cases ;)
