Global Search

Players have suggested a global auction/trade house since release, but how about a middle ground? A global trade search. I was inspired after seeing this reply by @Tommy_The_Gun:
This should not be an "add-on". This should be feature of the game. A global "search" engine. Select category or even better - "type in" the name of item you are searching. :)
It could show you the location, zone, name of the trading guild, trader, and even average price...

We would keep the balanced economy of guild traders, but it would remedy the headache caused by not finding specific items. Think the UI of AwesomeGuildStore, though accessible through a mage in the bank establishments – or simply the banker.

Something like this would greatly improve the trading system we have.

I just wish I could go to 1NPC (from each ZONE) and search ALL the guild stores in that zone. So instead of having 5 merchants, you would just have 1 (in each zone). Using that system you could even have more than 5 guilds per zone but you would still have to travel from zone to zone to see everything.

I agree with OP we need to meet halfway with ZOS on this. The current system is way too tedious and time intensive. The trader bidding system is broken and exploitable. Having one NPC per zone that can show wares from multiple guilds would fix both. That way you could also increase the limit of guilds per zone to maybe 10 instead of how many physical vendors there are.

That way, if I wanted to search every trader in the game. I would only have to visit 20 zones, instead of 5 kiosks in each of the 20 ZONES. 20 searches vs 100.

Yeah, that could be nice too.

I didn't mention this in the OP, but you would have to travel to the guild trader where an item is to purchase it.

I suggested that many times in previous threads as well to have a centralized trader in each zone to pool all current items listed on the markets to that one and remove the 100 item limit to search as well tbh. Also make multiple of these traders as well since you know everyone's going to be crowding around them, so possible some right outside the gates of the city with guards still around, also a couple in the center, and out another exit as well.

No. Ty, I really like the way it is now.

I think that is very immersive to actually have to look around to find the best deal.

Wish all guild traders were accessible through the UI. No more galloping around each zone trying to find items you want. Yes, a global search engine would be a great addition to the game, imo.

Having an info booth in current zone only that allows you to see what all the current zone merchants have might be fun, but for realism you would still have to go to the booth. Each zone could have their own info for a small fee.

The best deal? Are you talking about tempers or other common items? A global search would:
    • Make it possible to find uncommon items like specific set pieces.
    • Cause all guild traders to be relevant, and not just the ones in Belkarth.

The second point is especially important, as it would make bidding for spots (in Belkarth) less of a gold sink. It would also allow new trade guilds to be relevant from the get-go, instead of having bad sales due to an unpopular trader location.

So you like wasting 95% of your gameplay time looking around and not knowing if somethings there or not? Guessing your in one of those monopoly guilds that sell guild spots to others that have alot less fortune?

Nah. I'm not too phased about gear. I don't do trials or PVP. So I don't need to run around looking for BiS, I just take what I feel like / find on the ground. My guild trader use is minimal.

I only voted against OP so they could feel the anger I felt at seeing their all caps subject line.

Ah ok sorry then, thought you were just one of those stuck up monopoly guild people again that give no clear reason why they don't want an auction house.

I wouldn't mind having this system in the game but it has to be designed to solve only the aforementioned issue of finding rare sets. The search can be global for all guild traders but the price of the item should not be shown. Only zone and the name of the trader/guild. This way it is possible to find rare items but impossible to hunt for deals since searching for tempering alloys will just give you the list of all traders in the game. And this system has to either be pricey (a couple of thousands gold for one search) or progressively increase the price the more searches you do in one day. First 10 searches can be cheap (100-1000 gold, add 100 for each) and after tahat it goes by adding a 1000. So eleventh search is 2000 gold, twelfth is 3000 and so on.

Why would searching for items be a gold sink? That seems like a bad idea.

I like the idea, but pretty much it will be global AH.

The main difference between global AH and current system is that now we have sellers market. It is much easier to sell than to buy. As soon as we have global search we most probably will have buyers market - and significantly lower prices than now.

I don't mind about global zone markets are good enough for middle ground, its been proven server wide auction houses work in just about every MMO to date

    @Smepic ,

Because I like the current system and the deals you can get with it. Global search can very easily bring an end to it. 10 items is more than enough for any build you want to experiment with but once you try to use this search system to control the market and snatch all the deals it becomes not viable. You will have to waste a lot of gold in an attempt to do that.

I would like an intuitive search within each trader. I don't mind going to each guild vendor separately but it gets tedious scrolling through a few hundred skinchanger motifs trying to find one Outlaw.

This seems like the best solution (at least initially) to me as well. It would also help give the solo kiosks in the zone some significance.

Honestly I would take any change or improvement in the guild trader system at this point. Little to nothing has been done to improve it since it's inception.

I would be happy if (on console) you could filter by the name of a set (e.g. "necropotence"). If you start looking for a new 5-piece it's crazy to sift through all the light armor, especially if you are open to a few different traits.
