Updating ESO with copied TESO-Folder

Hi everyone.
My friend has brought ESO a few days ago and tries to update it per copying the TESO-Folder from a friend.
He cannot download the updates because his internet connection gets choked down to 50KB/s after 15GB for the rest of the month and is also not the only person in his house who needs the connection.
We could cut the update size down to 7GB but no further. The TESO-folder definetly has the latest patches, I dont know whats wrong here.
I was guessing that it had something to do with the server merge in one client, 'cause he has brought the old TU-Edition and not the Gold (and the TESO-folder has still the EU at his end), but another friend of mine mentioned that some files in the live-folder are linked to a specific update-version which may causes this. I didn't find any informaion about that, so I hope someone here can enlighten me or give me some hints what else the problem could be.

Get them to delete whatever they installed and just copy the folder over. Also copy over the folder in my documents. I've done this recently to update my laptop and it worked... Hopefully it does soon for you and your friend

Yeah I thought of copying the eso-folder from My documents too, but I wonder if that could have bad consequences due to him using a whole different set of hardware. Also, isnt there a risk of copying more privat informations with the folder?
It looks like a whole lot of account informations could be stored there as well?

Hmmm. You're right on the settings part, though I imagine no security or personal stuff would be on there... What's it do if you only copy the programs folder?

You mean the big TESO (EU)-folder? Like I said, it was updated not long ago but the launcher still wants to download 7GB ... if not more after that and he cannot afford that. For now these 7GB(+) are the biggest problem here.

If you dont mean the TESO (EU) folder, than please tell me which one you are taling about.

Wait. Your folder shouldn't say EU anymore I thought. That was from before wasn't it? I'm not home now but when I am I will check.

Thats right. It shouldn't. But if does for him. He needed to add the EU on the folder from his friend for the launcher to notice it. I told you he has brought the old TU-version (Disk) of the game... which ZOS does not care to update it when reproducing it

That's why I thought the problem could be connected to the client-merge. ZOS really should learn to remind themselves of the problems which can occur out of this changes and offer a solution for this. Man I think Im lucky I brought the Gold-Edition, huh?
