So I keep leveling my main to become a dark elf mage sorc and for at least right now I'm only focused on my magic. But It doesn't seem to matter how many attributes I add to magic it never goes above 18900 max mag. Is this normal? Ive seen other posts where players have the exact same amount of attribute points for the same class but nearly 40000 in max mag what gives? Is their something I'm missing or dont know?

You're still scaled as a sub level 50, not to mention your gear rating is under 4 stars. This will depreciate your attributes until you max level. Because of the way scaling works, you shouldn't get too hung up on your stats till then, but upgrading your gear may help.

It looks like you're level 46?
    A few thing to consider.

The battle scaling on players under CP160 will be affecting your stats. When I level an alt I find it difficult to get high in one stat until I hit CP.

The level of gear you wear will affect your stats. Make sure your gear is close to your level or the scaling will penalise you.

Armour sets (one that give magic) and magic glyphs are your friend.

Players hitting 40k are being helped by CP.
    I can't quite remember but I don't think I hit 40k magic til I got 300 CP

Passive skills like undaunted mettle will boost your stats.

There are skills that will boost your magic, bound aegis and magelight are two I use.

Also, use food buffs. Get food that increases your health and magic. CP160 food will give you about 5k in each.

    Hope that helps.

Okay thanks @driosketch I was told not to worry about getting 5 Star gear until I'm level 50 but dunno if that was good advice or not. I'm going to at least start researching the net for setups. So once I hit level 50 do newly obtained attributes have more of an effect on my Max's?

This ^. I recommend just dealing with shoddy stats till you get to cp160 and then invest in your "end game" gear. Another thing to mention is that allocating cp boosts your stats, so every blue cp you spend will increase your max magicka slightly. So a cp600 player will have higher stats than a cp160 player wearing identical gear. But your stats will remain viable and competitive from cp160 onwards as long as you wear cp160 gear.

    Thanks@FriedEggSandwich and @LordGavus!
That helps allot and I understand now, guess I was basing it off the original Morrowind series leveling systems. Seems like cp allows players to continue advance and grow kinda like veteran ranks? Anyways I'm glad theirs plenty more advancement to go as I'm only a month into the game!

    No worries.
Also, as mentioned above, don't worry about gear too much until you reach cp160 as you will out level it too quick.
Once you're at gear cap you can really invest into your gear.

Well 5 stars happen when you start to gold out level appropriate gear. You can hit 4 stars in blue gear that is just slightly under leveled.

You have about 6 more attributes to earn by the time you hit 50, but scaling is still tugging, trying to even out your stats. If you were CP160 with this attribute allocation, assuming no stamina gear, you stamina stat would be over a couple thousand lower.

That said, your magic with magicka glyphs, leveled gear, and blue mag/health food should have you in the high 20ks at the very least.
