Sabre cat review

If someone tells me to draw something on a piece of paper, it looks like a 5 year old kid's drawing.
But I'm pretty sure I could make a better sabre cat.

The side hair looks more like some cheap ear ring decoration.
Both the teeth and the tail ends looks like it is cut off with scissors.
The whole back looks more like a bear, and of every single sabre cat picture on google I found, the face looked more beast and scary then this one.
I am colorblind and wont discuss this last point too much, but I'm pretty sure the fur color are not some color sabre cats usually have.

If it was a free mount, I wouldn't have said anything.
Also pls make pet's larger then the grass itself. It is always some baby stuff.

1) I agree that the side hair could be a bit better molded to the cat model
2) Sabre cats have short bob tails. That's how the tails are supposed to look. I do feel like the teeth should have been much larger though.
3)Sabre cats had high shoulders and shorter backs, which combined with the short tail could give it a more sloping, bear-like back. I actually really appreciate ZOS's attention to detail here, it shows that they didn't just chop a Senche's tail off and call it a new mount
4) Since Sabre cats are extinct, they could have been pink with neon green polka-dots and none of us would ever know. I do think it should have had spots, as the vast majority of google imaged sabretooths seem to imply faint rosettes, but whatever.

One criticism you didn't mention that I feel is legit:

5) Glued-on armor that can't be taken off. I'm not a fan of gold on grey at all, it doesn't match the character who would be riding this and it looks kind of tacky. I wish the armor were black or blue or something more subtle to match the grey pelt more.

Overall I think the mount is well-done for what it is. I'm a bit meh about it since it's yet ANOTHER cat but it's definitely a well-done sabretooth.

Argh, I know, right? Iron armor would have looked so much nicer with the gray fur.
Overall, I love the sabre cats, though. They have great detail. They look a million times more detailed and nicer than the bears and horses, which really need to step up their game.

Seems ZOS would of given the option to remove parts of the armor by selecting hide the speed, stamina or carry capacity for this mount. Another 2500 crown mount you can do nothing with. Glad I saw this thread was thinking of purchasing the cat then removing some of the armor now forget it. Saved 2500 crowns.

I hope they release one without armor some day. A lot of people would like that.

I got the saber cub and I would have gotten the mount too BUT I just can't-can't get over that gaudy gold armor. When I saw it I hoped and prayed it was something we could at least hide as not everyone likes things covered in gold. Sheesh, save the poly count guys your servers will thank you. A simple leather harness and saddle would have done the job and matched everyone's armor too.

That and I won't buy a half made mount that lacks the basic customizations found in older models. If you're not including the option to hide the packs, harness, and armor you're really losing out here especially if you're expecting us to shell out over 2k in crowns for one mount. If you don't want to fuss with extra coding fine but don't expect us to pay more for it.

Sabre cat mount looks diseased. I was kind of interested in it and I do like the armor but the fur looks like it's diseased or at least in terrible need of a brushing.

I bought it for a future warden, but I really hate the gold armor. I think they need to reconsider it, at least go with steel/iron instead

I love my SabreCat . I love that it's not a reskinned Senche and the way it moves . It looks tough and muscular like a cross between a Linx and a Tiger . Sabre tooth cats were tacklers with bigger forepaws and shoulders then other cats . The look is spot on for me .

I've seen people ride them in the "cold" areas like Eastmarch and The Rift, and Orsinium, but even there, they aren't super numerous. (I'm on the NA server.) People have all been in Hew's Bane for the past several days (Thieves Guild event), and a furry sabre cat is so completely out of place there. It looks like it would die of heat stroke in a desert, so even if someone in Hew's Bane had a sabre cat, he wouldn't have been riding it there.

Plus, the gold armor isn't suitable for every occasion, either. Some people were turned off by the armor. I think ZOS was trying to make it look like dwemer metal armor, but the "gold" color ended up being a touch TOO bright and gold. I think when they come out with one with iron grey armor, it'll be a lot more popular.

So, I'm guessing it's a combination of things. I own the sabre cat, but it looks really out of place not only in the desert, but in jungles as well. Really, it looks out of place in a lot of areas. I rode it all over Skyrim yesterday, though. LOL.
