Mannequins in housing -- an outstanding idea

I think ZOS really do not want to give players any form of house-based-storage. A way around this though could be to make storage cases and mannequins to only take an "imprint" of an item. So you "imprint" your gear onto the mannequin (it stays in your inventory) but is now visible on the said mannequin.
I really like this idea and judging by the mannequins we see during the Scarlet Judge quest in Morrowind I feel like ZOS might be thinking about adding this soon.
