MagNB needs some love (from a Destro/Resto perspective)

I have been maining magNB for a while now, primarily in pvp but I dipped my finger into a bit of pve as well; however, since I mainly pvp I will not go into much detail about pve. Right now, I feel magNB suffers from too many things in the current state of pvp. One big hindrance to magNB's success is the abundance of snares in this game. All of the stam classes can use shuffle, sorc can use streak to get away, templar can purge, and magDK suffers from this issue as well. One option for magNB is to use the purge from the Support skill line, but with the high cost and the fact that it only removes up to 2 effects, there is a reason why many people don't run it. I think that one of two things needs to happen, either cloak gets fixed to be more reliable, or have cloak purge again, but maybe only 2-3 effects.

The next issue I see for magNB, which kind of ties in with the snare issue, is that they lack a decent form of mobility. Since cloak isn't reliable anymore, we have no good way to disengage from a fight. Because of this, many magNB's are forced into the heavy armor meta to survive in the fights to not die in two seconds. You could say that shadow image is their "mobility" skill, but this is a very weak arguement. When this game first came out, yes, it was a very good skill to use in the fight but after a few years, everyone knows that if a NB throws out shadow image they are gonna go back to it. I think if magNB had a way to deal with the snares and have some mobility options, they would be a lot better in open world pvp, but there are other aspects that need to be changed about it as well, *cough cough* melee magNB *cough cough*.

The class should be able to stand on its own. It shouldn't be forced into running a specific armor setup, nor should it be forced into running Vampire, just to be able to have a leg to stand on. Hearing "Mist Form" in a very 'problem solved' sort of manner especially gets on my nerves here, because the class already has not one, but two escape abilities, and the class still has to run Mist Form to be able to effectively disengage. Do you not see something wrong with that?

You should format your posts a bit better, to make them easier to read. That being said I do agree with most of what you say, my only issue with magnb is how hard it is to deal with snares and gap closers. No magicka class should be forced into vampire strictly to use elusive mist.

Magnb feels really solid in controlled fights (1v1 and small outnumbered fights depending on circumstance). I feel like cloak would serve light armor magnb better and be worth using if it cleansed snares/roots and gave a short minor expedition so we don't need to waste a slot with something like concealed weapon.

Every stamina class gets access to shuffle to deal with snares, and other classes synergize better with elusive mist and or have other strengths. Magnb just feels too limited in open-world with all these snares and gap closers, it used to feel better before the 1.7 patch got involved.

I know there is not much context in this post. But like Penguin said, shoehorning someone into a specific set up just to get the third leg you need when everyone else runs on four, is bad.

Cloak is not an ability to get out of a fight at will, it is not designed as a one button escape wonder. Just look at the tooltip of Dark Cloak: it grants Minor Protection after it is broken!

I HATE NBs who cloak midfight and think no-one can see them. It's such a shame.

MagNBs can however escape melee pressure by fear -> cloak + major expedition + 25% speed bonus. We have loads of other tools to snare and disable enemies at will. Cripple/Debilitate, prolonged, lotus fan, soul tether, fiery grip, meteor, assassins will.

If you are pressured by a group hit fear, lotus fan one of the enemies on the outer ring, roll dodge through him and mist form + expedition.

Just don't expect to play a NB like a sorc or a Templar. We don't have the shields and don't have a cheap purge because we play differently. We don't stand our ground unless in heavy armor sapping in a veil of blades and mist forming to reposition.
