ESO QQ fix: play another mmo one hour

In lack of new content in ESO I downloaded SWTOR, played it one hour, and when I returned to see the graphics in ESO, on ultra settings with my high-end gaming rig, it felt like the enhanced sensory experience one gets after taking the earthly equivalent of a fungus in Stonefalls.

Have not played Black Desert Online, because it's a grind, but have seen the low quality graphics in many other mmos, and ESO really is a decade ahead of the competition.

So if you are tired of ESO, the game will feel new and fresh again after an hour in SWTOR for instance.

I will still qq in this forum, but that's only because ESO is worth it, unlike many other mmos, which just look cheap in comparison.

All future QQ should be seen as criticizing the A team in the mmo world. But also the best devs need salt in order to rule the gaming industry.

Overall ESO is a + compared to other games. I think some just like to complain and others are just learning.

I remember a prevoius game and players would QQ about balance changes to what was my main class. Saying it was no longer viable as a healer. Yet the numbers at the end of PvP matches I was in said otherwise and effectiveness in raids had not diminished. Survival skills, defensive CDs were solid. Not sure what the meant by not viable.

I went and played LOTR:O again for about 2 hours. Then I levelled to 20 in WoW. I also tried BDO for a free trial.

Nah thanks. Tamriel is much better.

Funny laughing video, but Black Desert aside, is there any other mmo out there, with a good story line, which has better graphics than what we could play in 2007?

Black Desert may have potential, but from what I've read it can't compete with the depth and richness of ESO.

If FFX14: realm reborn was on Xbox and membership wasn't expensive (not sure how much it costs now). I would be playing that MMO as it's better competition wise i.e. trials/dungeons + has a lot more content.

I had a different reaction when I played 14 again.

Wow, the crafting mini-game requires some skill. There's an auction house! The LFG tool works great. There's a minimal cash shop. No gambling with real money! A sub buys it all. Not limited to 5 skills at a time. Lots of different classes. Mutli-classing.

Every game mechanic worked better. If only it had the Tamriel skin instead.

Most of this is just 'I died to X class/build in PvP once so it's OP,' or 'I want my uber-top-dps glass cannon build to also be a tank.'

There are some legitimate complaints as well, but far less.

The only bits of balance that I will actually point out are systemic ones, like CP or the lack of caps. Things which affect the entire game's potential for balance.

Other than that...there's a reason I've been playing this MMO for several years and most MMO's get on average a few months from me. (Other than some of the old greats like Ultima Online, Shadowbane, Star Wars Galaxies, etc.) Every other recent MMO has been a piece of theme park WoW-cloned garbage or a Korean MMO-inspired grind-fest/p2w supermarket.

FFXIV is the only current MMO that I would put on the same level as ESO. I think both are great choices for MMO gaming. I've just exhausted myself on FFXIV having played it since beta back in the day (it was terrible back then).

As far as I know, FFXIV still lacks voice acting, making it a "silent movie", which put ESO a century ahead of it ;)

My decade comment above was a bit hyperbolic, which would have been clearer if I had written that ESO is a "millennia ahead of the competition".

I still defend cheerful whining in this forum, because the devs have a habit of creating content that is not spectacular compared to many action games today. For example, I can pay 15k for a house, but then it must be fracking awesome, not mundane and average.

But other mmos sure put all the faults of ESO in perspective.

Just become coming back to ESO in January I hopped on SWTOR for a couple of weeks to catch up on story (I love the story side of the game) but after those two weeks I remembered why it's a failing pile of garbage in every other aspect.

Almost anything worth owning was from an RNG box no long available and thus you can't get it. Trying to decorate my house there and the only good looking red rug was 10mil credits because one person had one left to sell.

I really hope ZOS don't lock too much of their housing decorations behind RNG boxes (like we're already seeing two) because it kills that area of the game eventually for people who want a house with access to all the housing items.

I know what you are talking about OP and it is ESO's Art design is above many others . The actual graphics , while very good , are not really ahead in several respects . One being cloth simulation / cloaks / Robes and another being sever clipping issues on many hard armor sets / pop up terrain ect . The art style was done so exceptionally well , it gives this illusion of overall better graphics to many . Eso looks amazing compared to 90% of other MMOs .

I cannot imagine playing this game with more than 5 skills. How am I supposed to reach button 8 while moving around constantly then dodge rolling like crazy? I don't think I can.

ESO today, on ultra settings, has a combination of graphics and aesthetics which makes it equal to BF4, but not BF1.

Rohamad, do 10 % of today's mmos really have graphics which makes ESO look subprime in comparison? If so, which mmos are we talking about? And do they have content which are as captivating as ESO?

Mainly games still in locked over seas venues like Moonlight Blade . Waiting forever to play the English version still in development . Star Citizen . Yes you can play right now even if it's not fully released . Conan Exiles . I don't personally like the game play but it looks great .

I don't know about the original launch of 14, but ARR has had voice acted cutscenes since launch. It's just not every overland event is voice acted. Though since it's localized to English, French, German, and Japanese that's a lot of money SE saves on voice actors. Which can, depending on the talent, run in the thousands of USD per hour.

If you know anything about SE or Final Fantasy, you'll know that they tend to have a preference for spending the audio budget on music scores more than voice acting.

I agree with the OP - I've played loads of MMOs and this one (despite all the many, many flaws, especially with management and their total inability to understand the player base  ) this one is easily the best out there - visually it's put together artistically and the quests are interesting. You have to play with maxed settings (game settings and through forcing your GPU) to really appreciate what we have here.
