Does this sound like a good armor set up for Non-Vet PvP mag sorc

Im thinking of running 5 pc Light Speaker and 5pc Magicka Furnace
Or 5pc Light Speaker and 5pc overwhelming surge

I want either for the spell damage but I'm also gonna be running some resto abilities so +400 spelldamage to resto staff abilities seems like a fair deal

For PvP you need spell damage for both resto and offensive abilities.... light speaker is very poor for that.

Non vet PvP your best bet is crafted sets... Kagrenacs hope is ideal... With seducer on top maybe.

What is I did x5 Kags, x4 Seducer (2 body pieces and 2 weapons) and Willpower jewelry?

@Flaminir I realise if I do 3 pc seducer I miss out of the 4th and 5th bonus but the fourth is gained via mundus and the 5th is agined by me being Breton. 16% reduction would be nice tho

This is my standard set up for Magicka.

5x Hundings
4x Nightmother
3x Agility

This is my standard for Stamina.


I make gear every 10 levels, but you really want to have it done every ~5. If you're rich and want to be top notch at all times, just gold out gear every 2 levels.

Unless you go with a pure healer, I would not consider Light Speaker.

Overwhelming Surge is a really cool set, but it will depend on your build how useful you find it. I'm not sure how it performs in Non-Vet. Personally I'd use a set like Spinners Garments due to the sheer amount of damage it provides you.

Magicka Furnace is powerful, and Mag Sorcs definitely need a specific set made for sustain in Non-Vet. I'd recommend checking out Lich or Amber Plasm to see what you think about those though.

What traits should I go for and medium armor or?

Traits... Impen ideally.

One of the reasons I'd avoid dropped vsets & stick to crafted is that by the time you have exactly what you want you'll have outlevelled parts of it. As frost wolf mentioned above, if you craft a new set every 10 levels or so then battle levelling will keep you pretty strong.

Yeah the setup with 5xkags 3x seducer & 3 willpower hits like a truck... Used it myself. Add a single cost reduction glyph on that setup though to make up for the lack of cost reduction from only having 3 seducer. The other two jewelry glyph as spell damage.

No right/wrong setup either.... Try a different one every 10 levels and see what suits you best

A fun set I tried on a MagNB:

5x Crazy Alchemist
4x Julianos/Seducer
3x Willpower Jewelery

Requires duel weird or sword and board. Pop potions for sustain and CA so might be expensive. You can also drop to 3x Julianos with a staff on back at for range. I'm sure you can do this on a MagSorc if you're not using weapon abilities.

And please. Don't be one of those *** that runs dungeon/1T sets. The beauty of Blackwater is that crafted sets are used. Just because ZOS doesn't care about crafting doesn't mean us players do too.

Just ask in zone and find someone to craft for free if you provide the mats and tip them 5K+.
