Issue with player mail & COD

I like a few of you have just got scammed by one of the many players out there waiting to ruin the gaming experience for decent, honest players.

There should be a way of seeing what someone is sending you before you pay offer the COD price.

For instance today I got scammed by someone selling a sealed writ for 149 vouchers, I offered them 100k they had an offer for 175k already so I said 180k . They then mailed me the writ with 180k COD price but when I opened it it was for 3 vouchers. I feel like there should be a way of viewing what's in the mail before you purchase it.
Next time I will be more careful and trade face to face.

if you hover over the writ with your mouse cursor while it's still in your mail, doesn't it reveal the writ requirements? I know they do for those in your inventory. If that was the case you could have looked at it first, then returned the item. If only takes your money when you accept the attachment. For the most part, COD is the safer method of player-to-player transactions. Where people get scammed the most is the face-to-face method.

That is blatantly incorrect.... Face to face the only time you can get scammed is if you're careless. With CoD people can just hold your mail to troll you. I only trade face to face, because its the only safe way to do so.

No, that's not blatantly incorrect, the vast majority of scam complaints I see here on the forums are from those who do face-face transactions and someone pulls the item at the last second pocketing the cash. Yes, with CoD some people can troll you holding your mail, you will eventually get it back. One is a risk for the buyer, one is a risk for the seller.

I believe there's a bug with writs in mail that it does indeed not show the actual # of vouchers if you mail it to them, or so i last heard

I'll have to check that out myself this evening sending the wife one of my vouchers to her account and see if she can reveal the writ numbers. If she can't, then I will agree this is a major problem that needs to be fixed as it does open the door to scamming.

EDIT: I forgot I had a second account I don't use very often :) So I sent one of the writs to my secondary account, hovered the mouse over the attachment, and was able to read the writ voucher numbers just fine. Sounds like the OP didn't try this first.

That's why I do most of my trading on guild stores. The only way I COD is if it's a guild mate, too many petty scrub scammers in zone chat. Its not hard to make gold in this game legit, why scam people?

Yeah tell me about it just sent someone like 30 intricate pieces they aren't paying for through CoD, its pretty dumb tbh, they really need to decrease the time the CoD stays to like 10 hours instead, from 3 days imo

On console I think click the right thumbs tick and you can see what it is.

It was on console so there's no mouse. But thanks for the tip about the right thumb stick. I'll be sure to do that in future.

As above dude you can def view the item. And COD is the only secure method as long as you check the item.

People saying its fraudulent refer to being holding onto.their item potentially to resell at a higher price. It's mean / canny but not like they can get ur goods without paying.

Face to face has real timing chances you can get ripped off. Alpt of posts on here.

Lastly did you message the guy just in case he attached he wrong one?

It's not a believe. So what do you do to make sure it's good to go? Wait a moment? HA! That's not gonna do it.

I put up my item first, I wait, I wait till you put yours up, I wait a sec, then remove item. Looky there it happened a hair before you hit accept, GUESS WHAT? I just scammed you!

Sure it's not 100%, but it can happen, no matter how "careful" you are.
