Anyone use a keyboard on ps4?

Text chat has definitely helped consoles, but I cannot stand trying to type out lengthy messages with that stupid onscreen keyboard and the controller. Coming from playing on pc for the past 15 years, I'm missing having a keyboard.

I looked into those little mini keyboard things that attach to the controller, but they look like they'd make the controller uncomfortable, and at 30$ I might as well get a full size keyboard.

Do regular usb keyboards work on the ps4? How about wireless usb keyboards?

I have a bluetooth I had bought for my ps3 that works fine, but you can hook a usb in just fine assuming your cord spans the distance from you to console.

I use a generic usb keyboard for this and FFXIV:ARR. It works perfectly fine for my needs.

I keep this on my lap and game on the controller. Switch to the keyboard when I need to. It has a wireless dongle that can be put into the USB slot on the PS4.

This also works with TVs, XB1, and PCs. It does require/comes with AAA batteries IIRC. BTW, you're in the Purple Gang guild right? I think I have seen you type in guild chat before.

I went with a Logitech K810 Bluetooth keyboard. A bit expensive but it works great. And I can connect it to two other devices, three in total (PS4 Pro, Tablet, PS4), and switch between them with a quick key press.

Lol I use a USB keyboard that I've used since I was playing Monster Hunter on the PS2. With that said I rarely use it since I keep text chat off.

I bought this exact same one, works like a champ and actually feels more like an MMO for me when its easier to communicate.

Does anyone know if using a wireless keyboard with a USB would also work for the Xbox? I have an older one laying around, and I put the USB in the port, but couldn't get it to type anything in text chat or in-game messages. I'm not sure if it's because the keyboard is dead or if the xbox doesn't work that way. Sorry, I know this thread is ps4 related.

If the keyboard you're looking at is manufactured by Microsoft is should always work with XB1. The URL I posted above to Amazon, that wireless one also works for XB1. It could be possible the one you tried using is damaged.
