As said, you should be asking Microsoft why you're paying them for something everyone on a PC gets for free.

That's just how it works, it became normal to pay for internet connection on a console so now everyone has to do it, you're probably not getting value for money though. That's why they have to do free games now to make people pay for the service.

On the flip side you OP you pay one payment every four or five years for an entire machine, we PC players pay about that much just for our graphics cards.

Probably the same reason people fork out 5000crs for a motif, 4500crs for a mount or anything really on the crown store. Because they can and choose to do so.

A bit rich others looking down their nose at others when the game we're all playing is all about charging inane prices for useless fluff. Useless fluff a lot of people around here lap up like candy.

This, ZoS has no influence on that MS does, MS has decided you have to pay them to play online games on xbox.

Yes its a bit unfair, its supposed to pay for the servers hosted at MS who is used for the online games but an MMO like ESO uses their own server park.
As I understand Sony don't demand payment if you only play MMO.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

The better question is why are you paying $9.99/month for Xbox live gold. Your choosing $120 when it's only $39-$59 per year. It always goes on sale once a year.

Outside of that....you're not paying $9.99 or whatever for this game. You're paying for the Xbox live service which opens up online play and Xbox services for over 100 online games in addition to weekly deals.

It pays for itself but I'd recommend not paying monthly or quarterly. Pay annually

Yeah, it's insane that people are still paying the full RRP for both PSN and Gold. More so when they're buying it full price in monthly parts. Here in the UK, a year's PSN sub is around £40 RRP, but purchased 2 one year subs at £25. The same could be had when I used to game on Xbox. Anyone that pays the full whack or has a rolling renewal on both systems needs their head checked.

OP might as well get a laptop, trade your xbox in and get a laptop or desktop. 10$ a month is gold membership fee (thought it was less since I spend 40$ for a year membership) that grants you online access. I'm not sure how you had an xbox and didn't read the instructions or realize that membership for online access is bought like what?

It's sad that console gamers still put up with this *** in 2017.

Paying a "service fee" to play a video game online is a pure cash grab by the console manufacturers. But they can get away with it because they have a monopoly over their player base.

You need to build one, or buy an overpriced "gaming" PC.

PC gaming is expensive. So if you don't have at least $1500 to spend on a new PC, then stick to consoles since you'll get the better experience there than on a crappy PC (even with the monthly sub, it's still cheaper).

Respectfully I comprehend that many people are unaware of what they are paying for.

It's a really awesome service which turns out to be the least cost for cloud based gaming services on any platform.

    What you're paying for:
-24 hour cloud game, save, profile access and backup
-voice chat across the entire network and unhinged from any game but accessible during any game
-Cloud based DVR with Many gigs or 1-2 TB of storage
    -Managed friends lists
-Access to create Clubs or clans which can hold over 50,000 unique members per club (you can create multiple and join multiple others and this can handle over 20 different games at a time per club)

    -weekly digital game discounts
    -game specific Dev announcements

That's to name the highlights that I benefit from.
Compare what you'd pay and the time it would take to set this up and manage it yourself monthly just for your PC friends. $59/year isn't even close to the PC cost of a Voice chat server alone.....now add in a guild site, and cloud save secure backup for just your guild and then multiply that by each game that you'd need it for when services don't extend or handle multiple games all at once intuitively.

people think they are getting a deal cause it comes wrapped up in a package of so many free games

i think square enix has a deal people don't have to pay the console sub but they have to pay SE's sub

Yes, they have a deal with Sony, understood ESO would get the same if it stayed sub.

I have been buying a new gaming PC every year or two. It is a very expensive hobby. Console would be a cheaper option, even with the fees. But, it's my one expensive indulgence. Friends and family are more on the console side.

wow i didnt realize buying a pc for gaming would be that pricey, and i didnt realize all the things that have been listed here that the xbox live folks are doing. When you put it that way it does look better to just buy a yearly membership at the discounted price and forget the gaming pc. ty everyone for your input!

Not to mention you get 4 free games a month with Gold, 2 for Xbox one and 2 for 360. I think its worth my $60 a year, not sure why people expect everything for free. If I didn't think it was worth my money I wouldn't buy it same can be said for ESO+, I like having access to DLC and Craft bag and you get the equivalent of $15 crowns. IMO its worth my money therefore I spend my money. I don't think people realize if everything was free no one would produce anything. It wouldn't be worth their time or effort.

Only way you're not getting your moneys worth is if you ONLY play ESO and also use ZERO features of Xbox live. (streaming, free games, free weekend trials etc etc)

Otherwise, $10 a month for what Xbox Live actually includes is more than fair.
