VMA final boss fight!

Okay I have been working on VMA for about a month now and finally am at the very end, the finale. But I can't kill the boss.
So I'm having trouble in the first phase, I'm saving sigils for the end
I'm getting smoked by the CG almost everytine. I understand the mechanics up top but usually get knocked off at some point which is as far as I've gotten.
I've watched videos
I'm running Flawless Dawnbreaker instead of Rend right now, I could switch that
And I put 40 into thick skinned

So a lot of people get this very wrong.

Do the following and I can 100% guarantee you, you'll get it.

1. engage boss as per normal unleash hell.
2. When boss teleports from middle the FIRST teleport you want to step backwards to obtain the defense sigil. (so position yourself between boss and defense sigil when you engage the boss at the start.
3. Once you have defense sigil poison injection/endless hail the boss turn to the left and engage the mag KILL the mage.
4. Engage the boss BUT prepare for CG you have a choice bum rush boss OR drop your suppression field now!
5. Kill CG watch out for skull throw on boss.
6. CG DOWN BOSS PHASED! congratulations
7. Take clanfear to the glow pad and kill, watch out for lava spurt and tail whip from clanfear
8. Up you go.
9. Rotation from boss ( SKULL / WALL / SKULL / SKULL / WALL / SKULL / SKULL / WALL
10. With Hurricane I've been able to stay for 6 phases (it's possible but with good dps you'll have it done in 2 phases maybe 3.
11. Always roll! never block, block comes from experience and it will get you in trouble while you learn always roll the skulls.
12. If the wall moves the other way DONT CHASE NEVER CHASE just go backwards, POP hurricane to catch up roll when required.
13. Going down town, INTERUPT boss dps boss ( KILL ADD after you interupt boss ) back on boss.
14. Collect ghosts
15. SAVE ULTIMATE
16. After Boss teleports HIT HEALING SIGIL, INTERUPT BOSS and prepare for CG spawn
17. Suppression field BOSS and CG if possible and BURN.

Congratulations you win.

Do the above ignore the other strats this has helped hundreds of people.

I can confirm this is a winning strat.

Adding my two cents, but 100% trust in Luke.

Some things may change dependent on dps, like no CG spawns if you own the boss hard enough at the start. ( i have no idea what class or what kind of dps your putting out single target)
Sometimes when i come down from up top the first skill is not the interrupt-able but 9/10 times it will be, just make sure you check and dont run into the AOE thinking you need to interrupt... i

You wont need the defense sigil in the final phase if you follow Lukums advice with healing sigil.

depending how good your dps is, you may not even need the gold ghosts either, i skip that completely and just destroy boss before the CG spawns (or as its spawning). i found looking at the ghosts made me occasionally cop a skull when i was first doing it

I've been dealing with lagging still on the boss. Will it save on the final boss if I leave?? It's lagging way too much. When I get a brief period of no lag I get close but I gotta wait until people get off

I always get set up with Caltrops, trap beast, hurricane, hail, then heavy attack venom arrow as he spawns, bar swap to rend and flurry, after 1 flurry block and flurry again.

He'll teleport, cast hail and venom as your approaching and bash. Then rend and flurry. That should put him into the second phase.

Lol the crem guard by running in tight circles around it so the fire doesn't build on you. Teleport up top and work your magic. I always have time to hail, venom, rend and then dodge roll the Knockback. Then trap beast flurry and reapply hail and venom while you take cover behind the rock.

Phase 3 i go down, grab the defensive sigil, apply hail and the rest of the dots to boss. No need to bash as you'll reflect everything with the sigil. Collect the ghost and stop the summoner waking to the middle. After the summoner is down i grab the power sigil and healing and collect ghosts while keeping dots up. Use your ghost power and burn it down gg.

Unfortunately you'll have to restart at the beginning (of stage9) if you decide to leave for a while, however those rounds aren't so bad

I've only just completed my first clear about two weeks ago and after changing one thing just before finishing it I'm now on my 18th clear. Last run was only one death.

The thing I changed was stop trying to play around the mechanics. My new strat, start of the fight burst the boss as low as you can possibly get him and make sure to roll dodge the skull. When healer spawns stay in center till the guy teleports then run at him and interupt then stay on the boss and keep dpsing (ignore the healer). When the crematorial guard spawns, use duel wield ult (I use ele storm) on the boss and crematorial guard. Burst guard down then focus boss. As long as your dps is good, it should get you pas the first stage easy. Second stage is easier than the first, just collect ghosts and dps when you can making sure to focus the casters then when you get 3 ghosts, pick up damage reduction and damage amp then use spectral blast thingo then burst the *** out of the boss.

My dps in trials is only around 27k on my nb and I can burst down this boss so it isn't like you have to be pulling 25-30k single target unbuffed dps to be able to do it.

Side note, as a stam you have the advantage of being able to set up caltrops, trap beast and hail of arrows before fight starts which gives you a huge boost to dps as you dont have to cast them for a little while during the first stage or at all in the case of caltrops. A lot of videos say to use ult on the boss as he spawns but I found that makes it much harder. Save ult and use it when boss and guard are up. If you dont have the dps (I am assuming you are nightblade) use the siphon ultimate (healing one) it drops your dps a lot but it means that you can stun the crematorial guard and the healer when you group them up and you get a nice heal as well.

You need to stay disciplined in the 1st stage. As others have said all of your ground dots should be down before spawn and time a heavy. Max dps, I roll the skull.

After port I rush him with a bash and get ready for his aoe immediately. Get your dots back up when your clear. You can usually catch the boss and healer.

When the CG spawns watch for the next skull, ultimate all 3. If your dps was good enough the boss will port to center, adds are dead and your on to next phase.

throw a trap beast on CG. and go in a circle around it and it won't hit you as hard.

Yeah follow lukums to the tee man hes got it down.

I actually ran into that problem too where I would get the crystals down and then run out of recources and get recked.

When I beat it on my last run, this is what I did, I actually double slotted supression field (super weird but i found out it was the only ulimate helping me, i was only dropping ultis on the guards, as soon as they breathed fire), I saved up an ulti and got knocked down before finishing the last crystal, while down there, dropped suppression field to kill the crematorial guard, then got back up there, it reset the speed and damage, then i heavy attacked the crystal to get full recources and then clearing the top, then got sent down with full stam and an almost full ulti, INTERUPTED THE BOSS, grabbed both sigils and then attacked but mostly focusing on collecting the golden ghosts, i burned her until she got to the percentage where the guard came out then stunned them, then when that was up i dropped my ulti and stunned them again, killed the guard, then burned her ass down to the floor, then i jumped around dancing with a pillow in one hand and a controller in the other.

Secretly, I think falling down helped me. Maybe Luke can confirm that.
I noticed the second time I went up with decent resources it was easier maybe?

this may have been not ideal but my deeps was super slow lol and it became kinda overwhelming up top, i spent 4 hours dying up there lol. idk maybe in a pinch if ur out of recources up there and cant roll anymore, drop down and supression field the guard and get ur stam right on the bottom then go back up. in a pinch. thats not ideal i dont think.

Lukums hooked up the sequence for everything so that helped, pay attention to that

It doesn't reflect the while channel. Defense sigil doesn't sponge it outright.

I'd also add that for anyone else viewing who is trying to figure out how to complete this boss or you if you are going to go in again that you should be hesitant on these 2 points

In my experience, the Defence sigil is better used when you get down from the crystals because you can let the boss damage himself whilst you kill the summoner add and collect your first ghost (DO NOT BASH)

Also the rotation posted, is 95% right. It doesn't always start with a single SKULL at the start and can come as SKULL SKULL / WALL but either way, after the first SKULL(s) it will always be SKULL SKULL / WALL.

Right there is your problem. Those sigals are there precisely so you can get past the most phases in the arena. You are not using them in what is literally the most difficult challenge in all of vMA.

Also, don't be discouraged. 80 deaths in nothing compared to the experience many of us had.

For the first phase, use either the healing or the defensive sigil. Either one is enough to survive everything as long as you dont get skull attacked or stand in the Lich Crystal

Thanks again, and yes I'm pretty confident that everyone who has followed my instructions after being stuck there have completed it that day. So the information is generally a game changer.

You mentioned the secret drop down, for experienced vMA veterans for score runs and just awareness yes this is fine to do. For learning it's better to be blown off. Why you might ask? Because you have a FULL arena view and know where boss will be appearing if you drop down you're subjecting yourself to a 180 degree view most likely and often lose dps and situational awareness with incoming mages/adds that may be still up and / or spawning

For people learning it's defense sigil at the start, healing sigil at the end dealing with CG or mitigated by suppression field as stated previously.

Whatever works, however works.

Another useful tip, if you have shadow play or some other recording software. Record your fights. Then go back and watch and you'll start to see where your mistakes are.

Note: You'll also be enraged by all the BS deaths that happen too.
