Treasure map

I have all these treasure maps but have no idea how I am, or anyone really, suppose to find these vague spots on these huge regions? I probably could just look them up but where's the fun in that. Are there subtle hints in the pictures that I am missing?

Actually, it will take some time the first time around, but it can be fun.

I remember way back my guild had a "treasure hunting" event. We all brought our maps (and we had access to screenshots of the ones we didn't have) and as a group, we managed to locate all but one of the maps we had (and I found that spot the next day).

It was a blast!

And once you've found the same map a couple of times, it gets much easier. Except for the one in Eastmarch that looks just like the ground.
