Dropped Set Extraction (suggestion)

If you don't like these spitballing suggestion threads, look away.

With that said, my suggestion is to add an item, obtainable with moderate difficulty in game or relatively cheaply in crown store that would allow the extraction of dropped sets, including monster sets. The extract would be a unique trait, applied like any other trait, which would imbue an item of the same type (I.e heavy helmet extract only goes in heavy helmets) with the trait and set membership of the extracted item.

For example you could extract a prosperous blood spawn's visage, and use the extract to create a prosperous light helmet of any style you can craft with membership in the bloodspawn set.

This would allow us to get more use out of our motifs, and customise our appearance in ways that we like. Locking the trait would keep it balanced, as you'd still need to obtain the desired item in the desired trait before extracting. This would work not only with monster sets, but any non-crafted set. It'd sell some crowns while making large swathes of the player base very happy.

It's a simple idea, so I don't think too much more needs to be said. What do you guys think?

So ots a way to take the one and only thing crafted sets have all on their own, unique, style vontrol, snd give it to drop sets cuz i guess drop sets dont already have enough - everything else?

    Uhh no.

How about having an item called "reforging tools" obtainable by master crafting writs that does what you're talking about. just use the reforging tools with the style mats and some extra mats+temper

Oh, and I do hate that the only thing crafted sets have going for them is unique appearances. Kinda wish they would add more sets that effect different aspects of gameplay rather than just "has the biggest damage", and included most of those into crafted sets.

Spurious vitriol aside, that's an interesting take on it, and not really a perspective I had considered. From my perspective it wouldn't be taking away from crafting sets, but rather allowing crafted items to be useful. As you correctly point out though, currently for the most part the only reason to wear crafted sets is because they're the best looking ones, and they're uniquely able to be made in all sorts of different styles.

I think the players who choose to eschew functionality and wear crafted sets despite their vast inferiority are likely to be a minority, though I could be wrong. I suspect that the majority of people wearing crafted sets are doing so because they have some sort of build where the crafted set plays an important role (Pelinal's comes to mind). On the other hand, I think the majority of players wearing monster helmets do so in-spite of appearance, rather than because of it.
