Need help on low FPS

Yes, it is probably the so-maniest post about FPS but i am getting a little bit desperate. I have a new PC and all i get is 10 (towns) to 20 FPS in this game. Out of town, in town, with addons on, with addons off. I tried playing with the settings, like particles or shadings or distance.... Fullscreen 1090x1080 or not fullscreen. It doesnt really drop or something, it just remains in between 15-20 FPS

I downloaded the addon of Votan to see if that did anything, and while for some it works miracles, it gives me an improvement of 6-7 FPS and that is it. Imo really strange :(
Only place i have ever gotten more fps is in a builiding

Sadly the most posts i found are quite technical, and i am not understanding a thing about overclocking etc. So if someone can give a newbie explanation how i may be able to get more FPS, even if it is through help of screenshots, id be very thankfull. And since this is already a new pc, there is no budget for new parts or something :(

What i can give, as extra info: graph card should be an MSI Geforce GTX1050TI 4GT and processor Intel-core i 5 7400 3-3.5GhZ 6MB 4Core. And it starts itself with 32bit client.

I hope anyone is able to point me in the right direction.

View distance and particles in the video options. I reduced those 2 things and I jumped from 25fps in cities to 60 fps in cities.

Visually it doesn't look too different, but performance was hugely improved.

Ty for reply, but my Max particles systems is already at 1024, supression distance on 25 and view distance at 12.....
And still it is just 15FPS....

i can put them to 0 but i cannot imagine that being the intention :s

    Quick newbie fixes:
    - Close all useless windows and applications. Skype, explorer, youtube, ...
    - Turn off your PC, and give it a break. Then restart and try again.
    - Check your Download speed. Your internet may have trouble getting data.

Next to lowering all kind of settings, are these all the things I automatically do when I experience low FPS.

Disable power saving mode for your GPU to start with and switch to max performance - if you have a new system by default it is in power saver/adaptive mode.
Same for Windows - go to power options and switch to Max performance mode.

Your system is way above recommend specs there is nothing wrong with it. I'm 99% positive it's the power saving modes enabled.

For one thing the 1050 is not all that powerful of a GPU.
The 50 part of the model designation is the most important really, and a 770 would've done a better job.

Powerful enough for ESO to be played at max settings. Heck my wife plays it on a laptop with GT 840 GPU above 30 FPS which is a potato compared to 1050Ti.

Make sure the game is allowed by the Windows Firewall and your Router, in fact, if you have a Firewall on your Router, disable the Windows Firewall while at home. Make sure the Anti-Virus that came with the shovelware on your PC is ignoring this game. In fact, if your PC is pre made, get rid of all the shovelware, it is just there to increase the profit of the PC maker, not do you any good.

Anyway, set the firewall to allow the following ports. Google make and model of firewall and "port triggering" to get specific instructions.

Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

Don't know why you got an i5 GPU when you are buying a new computer. This is 2017 right? I understand you might have wanted a cheaper rig. But, throwing a couple hundred dollars more to get i7 would have been muuuuuuch more worthwhile if you had any intention of playing any games on your computer.

Id rather order Papa Johns 20 times than get an i5 rig, even if I hadn't intended to use it for serious gaming.

    Go get i7. period.

Ehh...ESO isn't multi-threaded...so...all those extra cores don't buy you much of anything.

An i5 is perfectly acceptable in this application.

In fact, I own two systems, one with an i5-4690k and one with a i7-4790k and the performance is nearly identical in ESO.

Maybe 3 -5 frames, but nothing worth $100 or more.

Some newer games are multi-threaded, however, and can utilize that, but ESO isn't one of them.

    hey all,

ty for the replies, but like I also stated, I am not into PC/parts and all the buttons which exist in and on. So when you start about threads, and ports etc, Im getting lost :/

"Ypu said your graphics card "should be"?"-> It means i read it on the invoice, so it prolly should be in there.

"Disable power saving mode for your GPU to start with and switch to max performance - if you have a new system by default it is in power saver/adaptive mode." -> how do you disable a power saving mode on a GPU (what even means GPU?)

    "Quick newbie fixes:

"And no one uses 32 bit anymore."-> that might be so, but why my games starts with this kind of client then? :s And more importantly how to then turn it to 64

NASA put out an in-depth study on Intel Hyper-Threading

    https://www.nas.nasa.gov/assets/pdf/papers/saini_s_impact_hyper_threading_2011.pdf

    The Short Version:
Pitted against any potential benefit due to HT is the
additional cost of executing with multiple threads. There is
almost certainly going to be a time penalty due to increased
contention in the memory hierarchy. The bottom line is that
we will only see an overall benefit for HT if the time saved
by utilizing the idle resources in the pipeline is greater than the extra time needed due to
    memory hierarchy contention.
With a high level of vectorization, the number of execution gaps is very small, and there is possibly insufficient opportunity to make up any penalty due to increased
contention in HT. With a low level of vectorization there is potential for benefit. Thus the level of increased memory hierarchy and network contention will determine whether there is any HT benefit

Simply put, an Intel Hyperthread Core is on average about 30% of a Real Intel Core. In many cases SMT/Hyperthreading can actually make some applications perform WORSE due to resource contention, L2 and L3 Cache Contention from multiple threads, etc.

Games just happen to be one of those use cases where Hyper Threading can make things worse, or show no real changes at all.

Just for posterity in the AMD FX line of chips AMD Developed what was called "CMT"(Clustered Multi-Threading) and it scaled way better then Intel HT. CMT was 80% of a real core compared to HT being only 30% of a real core, but AMD made design mistakes with those series of chips the L3 Cache latency was too high, and they gave up too much single core performance to make those huge multi-threaded gains(they were hoping for a multi-threaded future, but it didn't happen)...a 230 dollar 9590 was beating the top 1000 dollar Intel ?Ivy Bridge -E in many tests despite it costing 800 dollars less

    https://www.extremetech.com/computing/170023-amd-vs-intel-the-ultimate-gaming-showdown-5ghz-fx-9590-vs-i7-4960x/2

The i5 is considered the best mainstream gaming chip simply because games don't use 8 cores. Intel HT and AMD CMT/SMT were desigied for server applications where the unused parts of a CPU core could be used to service another thread, the overhead of the contention would not be felt here as server applications are fundamentlaly different then the desktop user.

AMD started the whole "moar cores = better" nonsense with the FX 6 and 8 core CPU's. Intel just got on the marketing bandwagon and began selling Hyperthreaded chips to cash in on the market AMD created.

in the majority of game titles, you will see very little difference between an i5 and i7 in gaming. Now if your using Handbreak, Encoding Videos, or streaming, etc...then yes the i7 will help there(as thats the kinda stuff HT and CMT was designed for), but stright gaming...i don't see it.

Even if you gained 2-3 FPS in a game its not worth the 130 dollars more...thats just a bad bang for your buck purchase.

another generation or two and the i7 type CPU will be good buys and will also be significantly cheaper.

To the OP your rig is fine, sounds like something is bugged there.

    I had a problem with my card overheating, different issue but the fix might work ;
In game settings - set everything to minimum.
Load a character, log out to selection screen, set water and shadows to minimum and the others to medium.
    Leave everything else off.
    Load a character and play.
Now in game turn things on one at a time starting with grass and working up.
Experiment from there. If in doubt set all to min and start again.
    Good luck

To change power options for your GPU (graphics card) right click on the desktop, select nVidia Control Panel, go to Manage 3D settings, scroll down the menu until you see "power management or performance mode" and set to Prefer Maximum Performance, OK and close.

For Windows you need to go to Control Panel and Power Options (easiest way to do is open up start menu and type "Power" in the search box, which will bring up the power settings for you. There just select Max Performance (if it doesn't show up, click below on "Show more power plans" and it should be there.
