New Races?

Snow elves and the dwarfs? I recently took a break from ESO and started Skyrim, came across Knight-Paladin Gelebor and was interesting; a healthy snow elf. Not educated on the entirety of the lore here but this is an mmo, and if this is before Skyrims time they can manage. Any thoughts/ideas? Zos?

A nice idea, but at this point in the story, the dwemer and snow elves are still gone already. They're just as elusive/nonexistent as they will be in Skyrim.

Although, I don't believe we should have any more new races unless we find our characters being able to travel to new continents such as Akavir.

The Snow Elves however, do exist in the second era but scarce. As we know right now most of the Snow Elves were turned to the hideous creatures known as the Falmer. Who spend their time in the empty Dwemer ruins of Skyrim. So being able to play the Snow Elf would odd and lore breaking.

According to Lore - there is at least one dwemer still present during this time, since he appears in ESIII, Morrowind.
Also, Snow Elves - may be rare and diminishing, they also exist, since this time takes places many years prior to both Morrowind & Skyrim. However, it is extremely unlikely that those 2 races will be introduced as 'player races' (or, I suspect, any other race added to the player base)

The dwemer have already been gone for a long time by the time of ESO (well, other than that one guy). The snow elves (falmer) were twisted into the falmer that we're used to from Skyrim by the dwemer, so if the dwemer are long gone, so are the snow elves. Oh, there are likely still a couple of small, hidden enclaves of snow elves (I don't think the vale from Dawnguard has yet been invaded by the twisted falmer), but not enough for them to be in the game as anything other than a one-time oddity (like how the kothringi appeared in ESO).

You have some groups who exists, Maomers or sea elves, enemies in Ardudin and Gratewood. Might be an Altmer Bosmer mix.
Reachmen or tribal breton who you know from Skyrim as forsworn, an larger group at this time holding western Skyrim.
Other Khajiit types like Omes-rath think anime catgirl or Khajiit in Daggerfall.
No none of this is unique as existing races Bur lore friendly enough and for an Elseweir zone it would be weird not to add more khajiit types for variation.

Maormer or Akaviri seems the most reasonable, along with the Imga possibly. I don't know if Imga actually possess enough intelligence though to be in line with the rest of the intelligent races. They might be but I simply don't know enough about them. I recall someone suggesting Sload a while back which would be awesome, just not for ESO. I do think the Sload were cool though.

I think in terms of the races you present @FlyLionel , I believe it is very possible we could encounter a Dwarf in oblivion planes, or even via Time Travel. Its also very likely we will one day see a raid involving Falmer as well as Dwemer Automata. Why do I say this? Just think of Skyrim, and all those portions of the map that represent Skyrim. They're out there, lurking under the snow. The unpoisoned Falmer though (Snow Elves) are likely to not be seen much, they're all but gone even in this era.

As I remember the dwemer in Morrowind had been on an oblivion plane then the dwemer disappeared. Then he came back he searched but found no other Dwemer, still others might exist but just a few.
We might well run into him before he got corpus.

New races? No, not likely. However, I would like to see mixed races.

I agree, realistically the raid including the falmer would be amazing! I was just shocked when I saw a real snow elf for the first time and thought of the possibility. Maybe in future games things will further unfold.

Like everyone else said. The dwemer and snow elves are long gone. They both disappeared around the same time considering the dwemer betrayed the snow elves and caused them to evolve into the falmer. But the snow elves featured in dwnguard are alive during eso and maybe a few other random ones we never see. And as others mentioned as far as dwemer go it's just yagrum bagarn from morrowwind and he barely counts lol

Interesting concept on the mixed races, but it seems like it could be trivial.

OP: I don't think Snow Elves or Dwemer will be released as playable races mostly because (I think) Snow Elves are basically an endangered species at this point in the timeline, and have mostly been ridden to be what you know are the Falmer. It would be cool, but coming from history/lore, I don't really see it happening.

The only issue with races that the other races on the main lad continent are either too scarce to be a part of the story like other races or are opposed to the mortal races (like daedra).

The only way they could do anything with races is if they went to another land mass or exotic area and somehow found a lost or lesser know civilization. Akavir is the most commonly sited example, but they could easily go to some deadric realm or some hard to reach part of the mainland.

That said, the biggest barrier for this "new race" thing is the purists that would *** their breeches if anything of the sorts happened. There is a reason a large portion of the game is based of what Bethesda does. If ZoS actually became creative and stopped copying and pasting Bethesda games (literally in the case of Morrowind), then there might be a chance we would see something new.

    It has been said before...

Dwemer are gone for what, two and a half thousand years by the time of ESO? So, nope. And the snow elves for a bit longer then that, though their blind mutated descendents Falmer are certainly around and a possible enemy...

Maormer would be a logical choice for if they ever were to add more crown store races. The race is in the game, has its own crafting style, a strong culture and everything...

    Other possibilities would be:
    - Goblins (yes, they are primitive, but no worse then the reachmen barbarians... they have language, craft metal, and use spells... I would say, that's enough for player character status if the powers that be want it! And I recall some players using the gobbo transformation extensively, so...)
    - Reachmen (yeah, some say they are just bretons... but they -could- also be seen as hybrid race seeing how they live bwteeen high rock and wrothgar in the west, and skyrim in the east... its plausible, so the PTB can make the decision either way...)
    - Akaviri races... (Certainly the Tang Mo monkey people... and the Ka Po'Tun tiger people for a khajiity appereance with a difference... not so sure about the Tsaesci snake people, unless there was a humanoid sub-caste... and neither about the Kamal ice demons, all that "frozen in winter" thing does not seem conductive to player enjoyment... but all possible, more or less)

Less likely might be a few last Kothringi or Lilmothiit survivors... their races died out in the knarhaten flu twenty years before ESO, but some who were not in black marsh at that time might still be around somewhere... IF they are done, I would expect them at artificually inflated prices, to preserve the rarity.

The Imga shaved ape people with a altmer fetish... well... they kinda should have been seen already, so we dunno what is up with them. But they -are- mentioned in the game, and should be around at this time, so... who knows?
    Greevir wrote: »

    There are none.
A long time ago, the powers that be in elder scrolls decided they would forestall that question by decreeing that every child was the race of their mother, with just some cosmetic features of their father.
Likely to prevent people from asking just that question when it came to their take on the racial differences.

So a "mixed race" altmer is just an altmer, perhaps with black hair. A "mixed race" dunmer is just a dunmer, perhaps with grey eyes instead of red ones. A "mixed race" nord is just a nord, perhaps with tanned skin instead of pale.
    Et cetera.
