Sharpened trait

Hello, I've seen from various sources that sharpened trait "carries over". Tested it myself and it's definitely true. If a DoT is placed while on bar with sharpened wep, bar swaping to other bar with weapon which has no sharpened trait does nothing (damage does not change).

Are other traits behaving like this? (Aiming at precise, but want to know about others as well).

[Why I want to know this. I've always thought that Precise Resto MSA Staff is the best secondary weapon for my magicka templar vMA. But if sharpened is the only trait behaving like this, I might rethink it and take sharpened instead]

Thanks for clear answers in advance.

You're aware that bleed dots automatically ignore armor and resistances right? I'm unsure if the same is true for any other dots, but depending on what you were testing this with that may come into play.

I've been testing it with reflective light as classic debuff dot and blockade of fire as ground targeted dot. In both cases sharpened carried over bar swap.

So I am asking, does this also happen with precise, powered and charged?

Infused, Defending, Training, Decisive and Nirnhoned are irrelevant.

Will test powered soon which should be easy to test. But I am completely hopeless about charged and more importantly precise. Any advice on how to test them or information about them would be appreciated.

This applies only to single target dots that technically function as "debuffs" such as crippling grasp, poison arrow, reflective light etc. This is why for example having a sharpened bow on the back bar is very important to make poison injection hit as hard as possible.

Ground AoEs behave differently, hence they use the stats from the current bar.

Thanks for reporting this. I'm bookmarking this thread to see what your other testing shows. If charged on a lightning staff wall of elements carries over then it would be very significant.
#1 tip (Re)check your graphics settings periodically - especially resolution.

It doesn't. It's a ground AoE and thus uses the current bar. Only the initial hit will have an increased chance if you bar swap cancel it.

Thanks for this post. Tested deeply your statement and found my answers.

    For everyone my observations are:

Ground targeted dots (WoE, Caltrops etc.) are recaltulating their damage at every moment. So they benefit from the bar you are currently on, current stats and current weapon traits

Debuff-based dots (like reflective light, poison injection etc.) have their damage "destined" at the moment of casting and LANDING on target. So bar swaping or buff procs have no effect on debuff-based dots that already have been placed.
If you cast a projectile which applies a dot but does not land immediately (such as reflective light), the damage is determined at the moment of landing. So, if you bar swap before the spell lands on it's target, the dot damage will be calculated from stats on your other bar.

Buff-based hots (Regeneration etc.) are a bit strange. Their healing is calculated at the moment of casting (like debuff-based dots) but powered trait increases their healing retroactively. Powered trait increases the healing even of already placed hot. (whilst stats such as spell damage, max magicka etc. do not increase healing of an already placed hot).

Ground targeted hots (like Cleansing Ritual, Grand Healing ...) are recaltulating their healing at every moment. So they benefit from the bar you are currently on and current stats.
