One big "hint" that Argonia may come, eventually.

This is grasping at mighty fine straws, but there's one thing that's been in the game for as long as I've been playing, if not the entire time since launch that's pretty much a big hint that ZOS will, eventually, release The Elder Scrolls Online: Argonia, even if the hint itself is so inconsequential and therefore easily dismissed as a coincidence, but if you disregard how far fetched it is, it's actually pretty logical. And that thing is this road leaving the southern border of Shadowfen.

1dK4D4u.png

I mean, why is it there? Most other Zones don't have roads that go nowhere (out of bounds to us), the only exception I know of being the north road out of Arenthia that goes up into the Colovian Highlands, but even though we can't actually travel that road, we did still indeed get a DLC zone set in Colovia. Sure you can argue that the Devs just put that there as a way of saying "yeah this is the road the locals would travel to go south yadda yadda" just for immersion purposes, but then, why don't other zones have the same thing? Why isn't there a road in the southwest Rift that heads through the pass to Helgen? Why isn't there any roads in southern Alik'r that lead to the rest of Hammerfell? Why isn't there any roads in the south or east of Reaper's March that go into the rest of Elsweyr etc.

That single road makes it seem like it leads, or is going to lead somewhere, and on the world map, that area is Black Marsh proper. So, disregarding how far fetched it is, it's actually a pretty decent clue the Devs left us as a placeholder, telling us that someday, we're going to get The Elder Scrolls Online: Argonia, and we may be able to use that road to access the new zone.

There's lots of places like that. There's a GIGANTIC gate right next to the Silent Springs Demesne leading north to the next, unmade, zone. There's the pulled-up drawbridge in SE Cyrodiil leading to a little village and the next zone - isn't Blacklight around there somewhere?

In fact, before Craglorn was added I posted pics of the area past the Bangkorai gate (I climbed lots and lots of cliff edges to get there) which looks a bit like the area that's there now.

There's another gate in Bangkorai too, leading east into the Reach.

That's the road going north out of Arenthia, I mentioned that in the OP already.

There are some videos of ppl who go that road and climbed through the fence. There was some terrain, not really finished. Search for 'Murkmire' you should find something about it.

The way was closed in this update so you can't check it on your own.

As other people have said there's lots of bits like this where there could be a road leading out of a zone, or there is a road but it's closed off by something.

Most games do it, either just for the sake of immersion (just like how there were roads leading out of Cyrodiil and Skyrim in TES 4 & 5 even though they had no intention of adding the other areas of Tamriel) or because they know they might want to expand the map later so they're leaving themselves options. Not that they can't add a gate or a road or whatever later (like how many of the player houses weren't in the game originally), but it helps if something is there already.

In some games it can be because one team of people were designing a series of maps while another team were coming up with the lore and the overall world, so they didn't necessarily know how these maps were going to be arranged and just added a bunch of ways in and out. But it's unlikely that was the case with ESO because Tamriel was pretty well established by the time this game was made, even allowing for it being set way in the past it's a pretty safe bet that a swamp would be Black Marsh, a desert would be Hammerfell or Elsweyr, a snowy map would be Skryim and so on.

(But just so you know there have been hints that they're working on a new map that would be part or all of Black Marsh.)

I also found that blocked gate in Shadowfen... there was already some rumours about "Murkmire" DLC - but it was long ago, before "Orsinium" dlc.. so I believe it was scrapped, at least for now. But in the future we will probably see this new content.

    @mb10 *cough*
    Argonia
These vast swamplands were once part of the Second Empire, which, in 1E2837, had seized a large portion of it to create the Imperial Province of Black Marsh. Many humans still refer to the region by that name, but the Elves call it Argonia, after some ancient battlefield where many of their ancestors fell. Thus, the native inhabitants of the swamplands, a collection of beastly tribes of "lizard-men," have become, in common parlance, the Argonians.

Murkmire was announced around the time of IC and Wrothgar. The three were suppose to be their "next big updates" - IC for PvP, Wrothgar (what later turned "Orsinium" since those who are not as lore-loving might not realize that the cit-state of orsinium is in the region of wrothgar) for solo questing and Murkmire for group questing like Craglorn.
Of course, then... things happened. The game was rewqorked, went BtP, and all further regions were DLC-ed. Also, craglorn did not make people happy, so that explains what most likely happened to murkmire - shelved pending a rework to avoid the same "Wah, we can't find groups for our questing needs! Nerf craglorn!" issue as with craglorn.

Of course, -someday- they certainly will dust it off, finish the region, and bring it to ESO.
    Only questiuon is, when.
But the path to it... yes, that will almost certainly be this particular gate! (Well, it will likely also be a wayshrive inside like in Orsinium, but... the gate as well!)

Black Marsh is what the Imperials call it. Agonians call it Argonia. So yes it is a word in TES.

Wouldn't call it rumored as much as just not released because the adventure zones weren't that popular which is why Craglorn has been made a bit more solo friendly. A lot of the assets were used in a specific maelstrom arena level and the dark brotherhood mission. Later some also seems to have been used for the Grand Topal Hideaway island house that hasn't been released yet. http://dulfy.net/2014/07/18/eso-quakecon-the-future-of-eso-panel-notes/#Adventure_Zone_Murkmire

I have been to an out of bounds part of the map too way back. It was in a delve somewhere in EP and I still have screenshots. The entrance/exit to the delve, inside of the cave, it did not render. I went straight through it and fell to my death on a dirt floor under the map. I revive where I died using a soul gem and explored down there. Farther out I found out there was a line that stopped where the floor was not textured but white and grey checkered. Then I kept going and I saw the end of the plane. I jumped off that and fell endlessly until it kicked me from server, "due to excessive spamming." Just thought I would share this now even though it probably is fixed, but it was pretty awesome back then!
