Could magicka characters get a way to sprint?

I love playing mage characters but it's just not fun doing overworld stuff with them without constantly mounting/unmounting or using spells that, while give major expedition, don't increase that amount of time I can sprint.

Could there be a way for characters to toggle whether they use magicka or stamina (from the options or character menu) to sprint? And simultaneously, magicka sprinting could look more like floating or levitation, to keep it in theme? Especially since we're throwing back to Morrowind, it'd be nice to see levitation make a come back even in such a small way.

Just some food for thought. It's not necessary but I think it'd be really cool to see and much more fun for magicka overworld play.

Closest thing currently would be bolt escape from sorcerers. I doubt ZOS would change it though since stamina for sprinting is something carried over from Skyrim. Mightve been in other ES titles too but im not sure

No, Morrowind and Oblivion didn't have a sprint skill. They had athletics, which improved your base speed the more you walked/swam. Generally athletics was lower for mages but any skill could increase. And in Morrowind/Oblivion, you could use spells like levitate, fortify speed/athletics, tinur's hoptoad, etc. to increase movement speed. Like you said, the closest thing we have is streak, and even then there's a 4x cost punishment for spamming it, and it's rather short, so it's not fun to use to travel.

You could become a vampire and use Elusive Mist. That is sort of using your magicka for sprinting.

I do this and keep rapids as my only stamina ability. Works well enough.

This game needs a 4th resource bar for blocking, sprint and dodge roll so all builds would have equal ways of surviving.

Right now, Magicka builds have low Stamina and aren't able to dodge roll, sprint or even block well as any stam build in this game.

Magicka should be used exclusively for magicka abilities.

Stamina should be used exclusively for stamina abilities

This 4th Resource could be used exclusively for blocking, sprint and dodge roll.

"But magicka can use frost staff to block now"

Oh yea, but what about people who use Fire Staff? Lightning Staff? what about Healing Staff?

Elusive mist, or put some points into mooncalf, add some stam recovery and just sprint.

    Your wanting this for Farming?

Try a build based around the Prisoners Rags and the Darkstride Set

First set gives you a set bonus of:

(5 items) Reduces the cost of Sprint by 50%. While Sprinting, restore 1000 Magicka every 1 second.

    The second gives:

(5 items) Reduces the cost for Sprint and Sneak by 50%.

You can pretty much Sprint across the map with this set up and Bolt Escape at will.

so you got magica blocking (in so bad working but you got), you still want magica rolldodge, magica sprinting and what now about stamina? where are our big damage shield scaling of stamina? why we cant get then, we also want something, big insta heals stamina will be also so nice not to mention stationary or mobile ulti like your destro ulti which is just melting everything on pvp and on pve in compare to any other stam ulti like aoe skills

In a game similar to ESO called Elder Scrolls Morrowind.

In the alteration tree you have a spell that improves regeneration of stamina.

If only ESO was anything similar to Elder Scrolls Morrowind.

On another note, there was also a spell that fortified acrobatics, allowing you to jump insanely high, good way to travel, I jumped a lot in Elder Scrolls Morrowind.

Ah you may not be concerned about stamina regeneration, in Elder Scrolls Morrowind, there is also a spell that fortified athletics, making you run faster, with very high athletics, you practically float in air, think of going 140 miles per hour and going up and down hilly roads.

I recall about 2 years ago, people were getting all excited about this thing called Spellcraft in ESO, well Elder Scrolls Morrowind has it, and there was so much you can do with it. Hopefully ESO Morrowind is just as similar to Elder Scrolls Morrowind.
Morrowind is much more than cliff racers and ash mountains.
Morrowind is known best for levitation, running insane speeds, jumping insanely high.

    Sorcs - bolt escape.
NBs - 2 sources of magika based major momentum
    Everyone else rapid maneuvers

    All close enough.

It's nice that we have differences

Streak + Dark conversion takes me further distances faster than sprinting IMO.

Plus I enjoy the streak animation lol.

No, I mostly want this for thematics. I don't know if it'd affect pvp a lot, but I just think it'd be cool to see mages floating around at sprint speed like stamina users like to run. Besides, I don't have a mag sorc I use often, I play a mag templar and they have serious mobility issues. May go vampire with elusive mist but I'd still like to see the equivalent to levitation in this game

I will never understand this kind of argument. Not only did I just explain that you still need stamina to sprint (which is the only reason expedition helps outside of combat), and rapid maneuver is a stamina based ability that will cost well around half the stamina pool of an average magicka character, but the whole argument, used for many things in this forum, is pointless. Just because there are differences doesn't make those differences nice. And in my case the cost has its own sacrifice just like oversprinting does. Streak is far too punishing for travel and goes a short distance. Streak is also EXCLUSIVE to Sorc. These aren't the kind of differences anyone rational would want.

Like I'm not really invested in my idea as other things, but this stupid 'i like differences but i'm unwilling to make strong comparisons' crap I see on the forums blows my mind. None of the things you brought up are equivalent
