Is it viable to use Lich Set for endgame Magicka Sorc DPS PvE?

As a magicka sorcerer DPS, I was wondering if it is viable to use the Lich Set for endgame vet dungeons/trials. By viable, I mean BiS geared CP 600 party members (BSW, vMA weapons, and etc.) won't have the temptation to kick me out or exclude me from the team for wearing a Lich Set, assuming I'm running all yellows.

I recently completed a 5 piece Lich Set (all yellow) for PvP. For PvE, I had been using 5 Julianos + 3 Will Power + 2 Ilambris and vMA staffs, but I'm so in love with the Lich Set, I'd like to use it for my PvE as well. Instead of Will Power, I'm planning on running 5 Julianos + 5 Lich + 2 Ilambris. I understand that there will be a noticeable difference in pure damage output if I were to give up vMA and Will Power, but I'd like to very much use my Lich Set if it is still viable to be effectively used in endgame vet dungeons and trials.

Can anyone tell me if someone's gonna say WTF if I'm running such a set for PvE contents as a magicka sorc damage dealer?

    Not viable. At all.

For pve group content, you don't need sustain. Your healer provides it for you. Gor for 2 damage / crit sets.
The current meta is 5 necropotence / burning spellweaver / julianos / tbs + 3 aether / moondancer + 2 ilambris and vMSA or no set staves

Then again, rereading your message, it all depends on the kind of dungeon and role you're doing.

Personally I use lich + magnus (well my pvp setup) on my sorc to tank normal and vet dailies since they hardly matter. For damage though, lich is a very bad idea.

And you'd defo shouldn't do it in raids or optimized groups since it's a huge loss of damage.

Also, unless you're running a resto lich staff, people wouldn't notice the sets you're wearing. But you'd definitely get some WTFs for the lack of damage output.

There's no reason to run that much regen in PvE.

    Mostly agree with this post.

Though bare stages is not preferable. It may be better to use a crafted 5PC and for that I'd suggest juliano. You cane run 3 infal or MD jewelry with one armor then crafted set 4 armor and weapons.

Once you have dropped sharpened weapons for your set of choice you can change it up.

Julianos outperforms TBS with the War Horn/ major force nerf in the homestead update.

Necropotence requires the use of pets to get the 5pc bonus.

    BSW requires using fire.

And as longsword said, depends. What I mention would be more for trials. Works great for dungeons also but dungeons are mostly not as big a deal.

Few would know what sets you are wearing even if an animation occurs when lich procs. Those that could recognize the proc are probably good enough they won't care if in a dungeon.

It's a cool set, but the answer is gonna be a No. As a DPS, you need to run sets and enchants that deal/add to your damage.

Lich gives you Magicka Regen which you'll already have enough of thanks to your CPs/Minor Magickasteal/Necrotic Orb Synergies. As a Magicka Sorcerer, I highly recommend you keep using your 2x Ilambris, 5x Julianos, 3x Willpower with Maelstrom staves.

I'm sure you know this, but overtime you should try to upgrade that 5x Julianos to 5x Burning Spellweave, and that 3x Willpower to 3x IA/Moondancer. Also try to farm out your sharpened lightning IA/Moondancer staff for your frontbar and sharpened Inferno Maelstrom staff for your backbar. Those BiS staves are quite rare.

Is the 5 and 5 pc build viable at all?

It means you're always losing the other sets 5 pc bonus when switching bars, right?

Only when I wanna be fancy and do a sorc tank I do 5 lunch 5 warlock for wards and dark deals.

You can manage resources in better ways- when an enemy is low health use the destruction staff normal/med attack to kill it for 3600 magicka. That right there is huge.

Drink a rash pot and 1/2 magical, with 3/3 in medicinal use. Chug them for the rest of the fight.

I do 30k dps on the skeleton and I slot one piece of jewelry with recov instead of spell power- it's not the end of the world. Done hard mode trials and flawless conqueror. It is worth it.

Skills like inner light and meteor add to max magic and regen, and barrier with the passive Ives you ten percent regen which is huge.

Medium attack weave instead of light attack

100 cp into magician and 100 arcanist

But seriously kill adds with destro staff, not pulse frag or even endless fury

    Hope this helped!
Message me if you want to do trials/dungeons, or need a trading guild! Flawless conqueror magsorc with a bad sense of armor fashion.

Youd be suprised. If youre just puggin most ppl dont know squat about gear. Last week I got kicked from several normal dungeons for ' doing too much' dmg. Id be hard pressed to careif it wasnt for the timer.

Nop, instead you should put some DPS set! I.e. Necropotance as Sorcerer!

Alternation Mastery is way better set comparing seducer, lich, warlock etc.

It reduces all costs by 6% including Ultimate and gives more recovery

In trials you should never concern about Recovery, templars are throwing Shards, Casting Magicka Steel etc..

Odds are real good unless you advertise you're wearing healing gear as a DPS nobody will be any the wiser. Most players are super casual and don't know any better themselves.

Trials require certain performance standards from the DPS and as such you will never reach those while using Lich gear. It's basically that simple and how you should phrase your state of mind when considering "Can I do XYZ in the future?" Everything is dictated by the encounters themselves.

Yeh if you announced it I'd wonder why you;re sacrificing dps and can;t sustain. I'd probably generalize you as being low damage/useless. Keep it a secret and no1 will know.

Is it viable? Yes. It is indeed viable. Is it advisable and or optimal, however? No. I do not think so.

It's viable in the same way Seducer and Magnus are viable, but you're ultimately gimping yourself by not using a real dps set. If you utilize pots and heavy attacks you will be fine for magicka and most groups will have some kind of support synergies to aid your recovery. There's something to be said for never running out of your main resource, but eventually the infinite light pecking of a sustainable but weak dps isn't going to get it done and you're going to have to hit harder. You will get this with the right gear.

Focus too much on sustain and you become a fly, bugging the boss incessantly but never taking him down
    63625.gif

If your dps are heavy hitters and sting the boss like these guys though, he'll get rekt
    japenese-giant-hornets.jpg

Hit hard, don't die. That's what dps should strive to do.

I went 5 lunch recently. Still torn on which way to go with enchants though. Using lunch with salad seems to be better for health, while lunch with burger just feels better, but does more damage. I've noticed people who only run lunch with burger have a harder time surviving. I tend to try and run a good mix for balance since going all salad can be boring.

(Sorry, just having some fun with Darth's spell checker :) It's alright, I've been an idiot for decades, I know what I'm doing. ;) )
